A gem

The way the author delved into the topic of Intermittent Fasting was so fascinating. I'm always undertaking the 12:12 or 18:6 schedules, and I've always wondered about the 5:2, but wasn't sure if it would help me much. The author, however, unleashed other schedules I was not even aware of, and managed to fit in the risks and benefits as well as everything else.

This is a great book for anyone considering fasting, and I enjoyed it immensely.

a lot of great info

started fasting recently, and I suffer from IbS. I found this quite helpful and rational. talks about the gut violence and the trillions of bacteria and other microorganisms, and how intermittent fasting can help people like me. and IF is working for me.

on another note, the voice was very soothing and I enjoyed it.

I have both the book AND the Audible version!

Loved the Amazon version so much that I picked up the Audible version as well! Gut Health and Fasting for Beginners (by Tina Shelton) contains a wealth of information for those who are new to the field. I’ve done a couple of 10 day fasts and innumerable 3 days fasts ,but I didn’t realize until I read her book all the benefits of a fast, especially in that 3 day sweet spot. Her information is solid and well-presented, you won’t get lost in medical jargon. She explains everything. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

great but a lot of info to take in

This is a lot of information for anybody to take in, but it's crucial. I'll probably buy the e-book so I can make lists and notes in order to follow it closer, as well as listen the audiobook several times over.

I suffer from long time chronic pain so this book piqued my interest. I highly doubt I'll be able to implement all these techniques, but I have slowly implemented some of them. My pain is still there but I can feel a lightness that I didn't feel before.

Healed my Gut

I just got back from my honeymoon in Mexico and we both came back with some virus affecting our digestive track. I picked this book up in hopes of learning about how the gut microbiome worked, and I did! It had a lot of information that helped us bounce right back. I now know the importance of my gut and how to take care of it, and more about the bacteria and symptoms that could affect it. It’s more complicated than I thought! Despite it’s complexity, this book broke it down quite well.

Discover lots with this very important book.

I enjoyed this book as we know the vital link between gut health and well-being. I needed something for beginners, so this was perfect. In this book, you will discover lots to guide you on your biome. Chapter 7 was my favorite with case studies. I love learning through audiobooks; this one was great to listen to while doing chores. A Solid Guide to Managing Gut Health

This book is available for kindle unlimited and audible; I did both with Alexa reading the ebook for me. The audible version was much easier to follow and pay attention to while I also used the ebook to mark up and take notes in several areas.

This book is one (1) part gut health education and two (2) parts fasting strategies. For the most part, I believe the information covered, while not universally accepted, are probably inline with the general consensus across multiple health and nutrition professionals. The initial review of gut health is well presented and easy to understand. In particular there is an emphasis on diet, exercise and the use of biotics (especially after use of antibiotics). This is important information that many people (especially older generations) may not know or have not understood well and probably goes a long way toward partially explaining the general increase of GI disorders and obesity in the US. This is even more true when the author moves into the benefits and strategies for fasting, supported by a growing number of studies. Most people associate the various fasting programs with anecdotally supported weight lose strategies instead of more general holistic health, so they are often met with increased skepticism; however, as we better understand how our gut works, there does seem to be some support for fasting regardless of any ability to reduce weight (which is only one of eight potential health issues that can be triggered from gut dysbiosis). There are a number of fasting strategies covered and the author does a reasonably well reviewing the how and why for each (including warnings to be on the lookout for).

Introduction
Chapter 1: The Miracle of the Human Body
Chapter 2: Gut Health
Chapter 3: Understanding Fasting
Chapter 4: Your Gut Health Journey: Actionable Steps
Chapter 5: Let’s Think!
Chapter 6: Into the Science of Fasting
Chapter 7: Case Studies
Conclusion

I was given this free advance review/listener copy (ARC) audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
