BUY THE HARDCOPY - not the Audio

The value of this book is in the "How To," not the "Why."

They WHY is great for audio, although if you're already keto-savvy, you won't learn too much that's new. But WHY is the type of information one can absorb while driving or fixing supper. You can also get it on recent podcasts in which Dr. Mercola discusses about the book.
Audio is dismal for the HOW. The Good Doctor (and I mean that) (a) refers you to another book of recipes for exactly WHAT to eat, then (b) goes into L-O-N-G lists of various supplements to take and tests to monitor progress. SERIOUSLY? On Audio, without a companion PDF? It's bloody time consuming to start/stop the book to get everything written down, so I'm buying the hard copy.
Dr. Mercola is not alone here. For the same reason, I also bought the hard copy of Dr. Dale Bredesen's excellent Alzheimer's book after first trying audio. Some authors thoughtfully include a PDF of this type of information for their Audible listeners, but Dr. Mercola is not particularly generous. I mean, really, not even ONE "sample meal" for his keto fast? He does provide the number of grams of protein, carbs, and fat, so I suppose a sample isn't critical.
All in all, I recommend the book, but not the format.

It works

It’s impressive how much Dr. Mercola knows and cares. Appreciate the supporting knowledge and easy to understand summaries. Being fat adapter I did his fast last weekend. I’m 62 years old and blew my mind how I was able to crush-it In the weight room after the fast and Re-feed. I found the book helpful because there’s a lot of complexity to this emerging science This Book provides the info I needed to take my intermittent fasting To the next level thank you Dr. Mercola

Where is the pdf

I rated the book a 4. No recipes, or meal plans.I liked the fact he explained we should not stay on ket O forever. And he explained how to protect ourselves from toxins i have believed for a long time when overweight people lose weight some for cause their can,t handle the toxic load. Thought the book was very informative. Don,t like the fact now I have to buy his cookbook. I hope he has menu and recipes for all phases.

NOT RECOMMENDED

The content is so shallow that it is really offensive to be sold as a book. There is nothing useful here, specially if you know a bit about keto. If you can't do keto, he won't explain how it works, you will have to buy his other books. If you know how the diet works, he will just say that while on keto a lot of pesticides and heavy metals will be released on your body. To get rid of them, you should do a ciclical keto diet (5 days keto, 2 days off keto and. If possible, one day of fasting) and buy a lot of products on his Website, like chlorella. I can't forget to mention that there are a good amount of advertising for Chronometer app, it's outrageous. Of course this small and shallow book doesn't have any of the keto meals to detox your body, you have to buy a separate book to have access to the receipts. SKIP IT.

Loves an acronym

Not well referenced, unlike Jason Fung’s seminal book on fasting, which is quoted from, but is contradicted when it comes to toxin overload from fasting and extended fasts. Where are the references to studies highlighting the problematic toxin release while fasting? Not properly edited.... referred to growth hormone as being “catabolic” and that “one cell of glycogen is stored with three or pounds of water.” Relentlessly self publicising products and books and his app. Boring stuff about infrared saunas and how to make them.... very ocd about many things including weighing food and electromagnetic fields. The cyclic diet and “ketofast” don’t really make sense.

Don’t waste your money on this. The Complete Guide to Fasting, by Dr Jason Fung is an infinitely superior book. Well referenced and researched and far more interesting and informative.
