This idea, once controversial, is now supported by science, and has become widely popular among therapists around the world. In Hold Me Tight, Dr. Sue Johnson presents Emotionally Focused Therapy to the general public for the first time. Johnson teaches that the way to save and enrich a relationship is to reestablish safe emotional connection and preserve the attachment bond.

An affair: It can rob a couple of their relationship, their happiness, their very identity. And yet this extremely common human experience is so poorly understood. Adultery has existed since marriage was invented, and so, too, the prohibition against it - in fact it has a tenacity that marriage can only envy. Iconic couples' therapist and best-selling author of Mating in Captivity Esther Perel returns with a groundbreaking and provocative look at infidelity, arguing for a more nuanced and less judgmental conversation about our transgressions.

Story
Why have history's greatest minds - from George Washington to Frederick the Great to Ralph Waldo Emerson along with today's top performers, from Super Bowl-winning football coaches to CEOs and celebrities - embraced the wisdom of the ancient Stoics? Because they realize that the most valuable wisdom is timeless and that philosophy is for living a better life, not a classroom exercise. The Daily Stoic offers a daily devotional of Stoic insights and exercises, featuring all-new translations.

Essential listening for all couples
Dr. Stan Tatkin does it again with an engaging and informative book that will actually help you create a strong and secure-functioning relationship. I especially love the role plays that demonstrate toxic conflict and exactly how secure-functioning couples resolve conflict in healthy ways. This is an enjoyable book that I’ll be listening to again and again and recommending to the couples I work with.

Excellently balanced for both the avid learner, unsuspecting dunce
I accidentally stumbled across this book trying to find something on neurology. My partner and I are a little over two years together now, so communication is still a learning work-in-progress.
I’m biased towards self-help books, but this is definitely one of the top audible experiences I’ve had (I’m probably close to/over 100 books in the library with around 10 repeaters).
I found myself reflecting on my own shortcomings as a partner, because I was motivated to be a more active participant in the relationship. One of my favorite dynamics from the book is how the author cleverly weaves sound seductive arguments within common-sense conversation, and tidies it up with realistic evidence. I most enjoyed how the author constructively disassembles a large collection of social norms, expectations, and assumptions.
So far I’ve tried to shove this book in any of my audible fiends’ ears. On my third listen in less than a few months, I’m very pleased.
