Missing a written outline for the 8 week program

Any additional comments?

Really good content - but VERY hard to follow up and practice the detailed steps for the 8 week program. It would be so simple for the authors/publisher to include an 8 page pdf - a single page outline for each of the weekly steps. I was going to gift this audiobook to a friend, but not w/o the written support materials. Too bad ;-(

Would you ever listen to anything by the authors again?

yes, the authors are great, and i believe the program is very helpful. but the format in which it was presented isnt helpful without the book. this should be a companion audio for the book, rather than a standalone item.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Mindfulness?

I would make it follow the book precisely. organize it into chapters instead of small tidbits. make it whispersync ready, and connect it to the book.

I really wouldnt advise anyone to get this audiobook unless they have the print or kindle book and use this as a companion guide only.

Great for anyone who meditates or is considering!

This book is especially nice on audible because all the meditations are at the end. I am glad I invested in this. It's something that I will go back to for a long time.

Useful for expanding meditation practice

Would you listen to Mindfulness again? Why?

I listen to the guided meditations daily as I go through the 8 weeks

What did you learn from Mindfulness that you would use in your daily life?

I have definitely seen a big difference in how I attend to people and tasks in my day to day life since starting this program.<br/><br/>For example - I am currently working through week 6: Turning towards difficulty. This guided meditation focuses on the physical sensation of any kind of negative emotion - for me that tends to be frustration or anger - and focusing on how it feels in the body and accepting it as it is. Doing this daily for just a week has allowed me to recognize my anger and frustration in its early stages - well before I get to the point where I snap out at my husband or kids - and take a few deep breaths to back off from the emotion. For someone who has spent a lot of time trying to be less reactive, this is a pretty big deal. <br/><br/>Currently I'm 36 weeks pregnant. The body scan and mindful movement exercise has been incredibly helpful for allowing me to see the discomforts of pregnancy at this point as they are, without giving them too much focus. So if I get a stab of pain, I just notice it and then notice that it has passed. As it turns out, most of these discomforts only last a few seconds at a time. It's the focus on them that make it seem so much worse. <br/><br/>Before this program I had been doing breath awareness for 10 minutes a day for several months. The guided weekly instructions have introduced me to different meditations that have increased my awareness of my body, my thoughts and my feelings. It has increased my focus during breath awareness meditation. I found the structure very useful for making any time spent meditating, more uh, meditative. <br/><br/>Oh - my husband is doing this with me now too. He is a skeptic of a high order, but read enough about the benefits of mindfulness and seen enough change in me that he is starting with the week 1 meditation without having read the rest of the book.

Takes the guilt out of meditation

Would you consider the audio edition of Mindfulness to be better than the print version?

I could never find time to meditate and always felt guilty. His meditations are short and so relaxing. I bookmarked them all so that I could easily listen to them. The reader has the most peaceful voice.

Just loved all of the meditations and techniques for being mindful.

Simplest and effective Mindfulness Teachings

Yes, Because it is much more touching when heard, than read.

It takes time, I am writing this review after 1.5 years of Practicing. It really requires some time to sink in.

Calming effect!

It certainly is better than the paper version. Just to hear Mark William's voice. He has wonderful voice that has a calming effect, at least for me. It helps me to start my meditation just to focus on his voice. Awesome!

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

When you buy the book in the Audible format you do not receive the bonus CD. The book refers to the exercises on the CD throughout. The missing CD information should be clearly listed in the product details. Buy the actual book!

Exceeds expectations

Strongly recommend. Narrator great. Keep coming back to book for regular meditations. It was my first book on meditations and mindfulness.

Waste of time and money

What would have made Mindfulness better?

By being a full book. This was an introduction or something. It barely took up a 45 minute drive. It did not get in depth on anything they were talking about and certainly did not have an 8 week plan for anything in it.

What was most disappointing about the authors’s story?

It was just a promo for another book.
