Publisher's summary

Find quiet reflective moments in your life—and reduce your stress levels drastically—with this classic bestselling guide updated and featuring a new introduction and afterword.

When Wherever You Go, There You Are was first published in 1994, no one could have predicted that the book would launch itself onto bestseller lists nationwide and sell over 1 million copies to date. Thirty years later, Wherever You Go, There You Are remains a foundational guide to mindfulness and meditation, introducing readers to the practice and guiding them through the process. The author of over half a dozen books on mindfulness, Jon Kabat-Zinn combines his research and medical background with his spiritual knowledge to help readers find peace and change their lives.

In this new edition, listeners will find a new introduction and afterword from Kabat-Zinn, as well as factual updates throughout to address changes in research and knowledge since it was originally published. After the special tumult of the last few years, as well as the promise of more unrest in the future, Wherever You Go, There You Are serves as an anchor for a whole new generation of listeners looking to find their center and achieve their true self.

Man that was powerful

The author does a great job of crafting a clinically convincing and artistically vulnerable work. I really enjoyed this book a lot and hope you do as well.

Alignments

Mindfulness is broken down in a simplistic form. Very good book. Thank you Jon for the clarity.

Among the best books ever…

…on any topic!
Wisdom, deftly and poetically expressed.
Timeless. Classic. I took the MBSR, led by the author, years ago. He has been an inspiration to me.

Stress reducing

Love this book. I bought the book probably 30 years ago when it came out. Hearing it in the author’s voice was incredible and added another dimension to the experience. It’s helped tremendously in bringing down my stress level. Thank you, John Kabot-Zin.

Just what I needed

I happened upon this book from a recommendation at the end of 2023 and it was the perfect end of year wind down and reflect book for me. I am hoping that I can bring to life some of these concepts in 2024.

Unnerving

I was enjoying the book until the moment the author decided to use an example of the “beauty” of chopping up and butchering an innocent animal. It even went as far as describing in detail how when some joints of this innocent animal’s body were “rather difficult” to chop up, the butcher would work their meat cleaver to separate the joint “with ease”. Instead of being inspired, I am turning off this audiobook disturbed and disgusted. Very odd to find such a disturbing description in a book that is supposed to be about the opposite of violence.
