Safe Start Yoga, Step by Step

Great beginner book that can carry you on into intermediate and advanced poses, so I expect to use it for years to come.

Emphasis on safe performance, great step-by- step instructions.

I especially like the audio format because I can execute poses by listening to the instructions.

Good introduction to yoga for complete beginners

I have always been intrigued by yoga as I have heard about its many benefits but have always remained a little dubious especially by the ‘spiritual’ and religious side of yoga. That’s why I loved that this book focuses on the physical benefits and explains why yoga works as I was interested in how the exercises could help my body build strength and better posture.
I found it fascinating how much yoga could help me in other aspects for example preventing migraines, alleviating stress and stimulate good health in general. It also helps with my breathing problems as it teaches you breathing techniques that help deepen your breathing which has helped me to feel more energised.
This book has a very informative intro and then introduces the stretches and exercises and highlights the target areas and specific benefits of each one. Although ideally it would be good to have a visual of the exercise, this audio book does explain each exercise step by step in detail so you can get started.

Excellent display on Yoga Benefits:

I Had no idea that yoga increased your good cholesterol and lowers bad cholesterol. I enjoy added facts such as increased seritonin levels and helps reduce aging. My total enjoyment of listening to how well this information was displayed got me to want to get back into yoga and I feel this level of tranquility I haven’t had in a while. If you are looking to regulate your blood pressure and lower sodium levels this really does help a lot.

Helps your Yoga routine out

I bought this for my mom to help her with her yoga and she said that it really seemed to help her 20 minute workout. I think that this book can be used for the beginner or the experienced. Get this book and try it out for yourself and improve your yoga routine.

Being under a lot of stress lately this book gave me a great idea – to start practicing yoga and relaxation! Inside there are plenty of poses and stretches including poses that are suitable for pregnant women. It includes poses suitable while having a period and I especially liked the poses to help relieve period pains and I wholeheartedly recommend them.

Yoga with Susan is nice and easy

‘Yoga’ by Susan Hollister is a very valuable audibook that provide you useful information about yoga. It contains yoga background and types. I like the idea how yoga works on different part of the body like yoga for legs, neck, hips, etc. Also very practical is short description before all exercises how long is should take, focus, level, indication and contradiction. Especially contradiction is useful to know. The description of exercises is easy to follow and understanding. You can select your favourites position from the easiest like the Warrior, the Mountain to more advance like Sun Salutation or Lord of the Dance. Also good clue is how to create relaxing atmosphere and nice mood. The narrator Gail did a great performance and you can even exercise during listening!
You can definitely benefit form ‘Yoga’ and Susan is very competent and practical writer. Thank you very much!
