Publisher's Summary

Mindfulness is not about complicated and otherworldly woo-woo spiritual practices. It doesn't require you to be a part of any religion or a movement. What mindfulness is about is living a good life (that's quite practical, right?), and this book is all about deepening your awareness, getting to know yourself, and developing attitudes and mental habits that will make you not only a successful and effective person in life, but a happy and wise one as well.

If you have ever wondered what the mysterious words mindfulness means and why would anyone bother, you have just found your (detailed) answer! This book will provide you with actionable steps and valuable information, all in plain English, so all of your doubts will be soon gone. In my experience, nothing has proven as simple and yet effective and powerful as the daily practice of mindfulness. It has helped me become more decisive, disciplined, focused, calm, and just a happier person. I can come as far as to say that mindfulness has transformed me into a success. Now, it's your turn. There's nothing to lose, and so much to win! The payoff is nothing less than transforming your life into its true potential.

"A How To manual to get to where you want to go"

Ian Tuhovsky has delivered a clear easy to follow explanation and instructions for Mindfulness well delivered by Randy Streu. There are lots of other folks writing about this but this book is a good place to start. Just do the work. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

    "Hearty Serving"

First I should state that I was given a free credit to this book in exchange of my honest review. The "free" part does not influence my taste, especially when I truly find the material to be interesting and the narrator, Randy Streu, to be engaging. I selected this title out of a personal pursuit to find more balance in my life. Like many others, I wear many hats and can easily be derailed when thongs don't go as planned. I wanted to learn how to be more accepting and not allow the inconveniences of life, or the problems that occur, to throw me off my path of having a successful career, and great relationships with family and keeping my faith strong. With these desires in the background of my mind, I listened intently to the audiobook. The narrator's vocal delivery immediately set me at ease by capturing the drive, energy, and humor of the author's words. I was able to focus on the message and not get distracted by the delivery. Although the book could be heard in one sitting as it is not very long, it is best to listen in chunks, so you can take time to process the advice, insight, and suggestions he offers. I was particularly grateful for how he made meditation a very doable activity. I was never drawn to it, but after hearing his explanation, benefits and suggestions on how to do it, I'm going to begin adding that to my daily To Be list which has grown shorter than the To Do list, and needs a major make over. He also covers a section on handling adversity, which is a great tool to have in todays complex and challenging world.

    "Sensible and practical "

This book cuts through the fluff and encourages facing your emotions head on to achieve inter peace.
Instead of suppressing fears, anxiety, or frustrations... this listen offers solutions for working through difficult situations.
On my quest to bring peace into my life I've listened to many books that suggest if I do this or that I'll be in a happy state of bliss.
And I get that I'm controlling my personal growth.
If I don't put in the work, I won't be the best version of me.
Sometimes it's hard to be happy when bad things happen.
This book speaks to me on a level
where it's ok if I'm sad, frustrated or aggravated with how things are going because these emotions are neither good nor bad just something I have to work through.
These techniques helped to restore my mental stability and bring my awareness back to the moment and away from the chaos that surrounds me.
I also think the narrator was an excellent fit for this book.
For anyone struggling to find their ☺ place I suggest using this book as a tool to get to the next destination.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

    "REALLY, REALLY GOOD"
What made the experience of listening to Mindfulness the most enjoyable?

A wonderful read for the first time Mindfulness student or the seasoned pro who wants a refresher on the building blocks. A frank, easily digestible explanation of Mindfulness and associated practices without the woo-woo stereotype sometimes linked to it. You can tell Ian Tuhovsky has a real grasp of the subject and he has laid out numerous practical take-away's that can be incorporated into daily life immediately. I've been practicing Mindfulness for a couple years now and found this book brought me back to some basics I had forgotten and gave me some additional tips I had not considered before. A short read that I will refer back to often.

Have you listened to any of Randy Streu’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not heard his other performances.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

    "great practical advice!"

I have the print copy of this book, but really enjoyed being able to listen to it as well.

It's organized, and offers very practical advice for anyone interested in mindfulness and meditation. I particularly appreciated all of his insights regarding beginning a meditation practice.

    "Excellent Tips"

I got this book via audiobook boom. The information given in this book can be useful. Everything that is said should always be used with understanding. Just because someone said it does not mean it is always right. Listen to your own counsel as well as others. If you are a Christian ask God for understanding concerning the principles given.
