If You Need A Definition

This book defines CBT but has nothing about how to apply to your life. I do not recommend.

An irresponsible waste of time and money

Would you try another book from Yasmin Bill and/or Jeannette Lehr?

I have no beef with Jeannette Lehr, the narrator. She did a perfectly good job of reading out the small amount of mediocre material.

However, I am completely turned off Yasmin Bill, the author, who offered, effectively, an introduction to a book, or maybe not even that: it amounts to comments on the table of contents of a book that isn’t there.

I’m going to see if Audible will reverse the sale and refund the money I mis-spent on this nothingburger. The book was cheap but nevertheless egregiously overpriced for what it offers.

What could Yasmin Bill have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

She could have written an actual book, with actual content, that might have been of some actual assistance to people in need of it.

Which scene was your favorite?

There was none – it was just flies buzzing around a cake, but no cake.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

I would have cut nothing, but insisted, before proceeding to publication, on adding plenty, such as an actual book.

Any additional comments?

This book is not a bad novel that one could just shrug off, throw away and forget about: it is non-fiction and purports to be practical and aimed at people who are facing psychological problems.

I would therefore go so far as to suggest that it is irresponsible to publish a book that seems to hold out hope to sufferers but doesn’t deliver.

IMO, this book should be withdrawn from Audible’s offerings.

I’ve listened to many Audible books down quite a few years, and I have never been moved to respond to a book in this negative manner.

Not a book just a long advertisement

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I was expecting a book about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, this was an advertisement, not a real book, complete waste of time and money

What could Yasmin Bill have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Offer a real book

How could the performance have been better?

If it were a book that actually required a performance

What character would you cut from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

The author for not giving any useful information, just a long Ad

Any additional comments?

Very disappointing waste of time

This was not what I expected. Not recommended

Found this to be a waste of time. It was about "how to make cognitive behavior therapy work." I thought it would have strategies to actually start managing anxiety not recommendations to find a therapist and do your homework. I didn't need a book to tell me that.

Techniques are skimmed over

It is informative but the techniques are just summarize there's no in-depth discussion of the techniques.

Don’t purchase

Wish I could get my money back. Not about tips or therapy techniques or anything besides defining CBT for beginners essentially. Well described but not work the money.

only explains what it is

first of all the audible edition kept skipping and that is distracting. but this book only explains what cbt is, it didn't teach you about techniques or give any type of help at all. I know what cpt is and I was hoping for some direction and helpful exercised to do. :(

Unbelievable bad! Not useful for anybody!

I just about never write reviews, but felt compelled to in this case.

As a CBT practitioner I brought this book thinking it might be helpful for some of my clients. Having listened to it I can’t comprehend who this book would be useful for. Aside from the title being incredibly misleading (ie. it’s about techniques for managing depression etc), it actually tells you nothing of any worth, and is incredible dry. It’s like it was written by someone doing a assessment on CBT who doesn’t know CBT.
