So grateful for this book!

After years of neglecting my own needs and not fully trusting my gut instincts, I was starting to feel like I'd lost my connection to myself. This book helped me tremendously by giving me a roadmap back to myself. Self-change doesn't happen overnight, but I feel that I now have a great resource when I simply need to come back to myself. I often feel overwhelmed by self-help books, but this one felt gentle and loving. I’ve been doing many of the exercises in the book and they have really been helping me feel better, stronger and more full of hopeful energy. Thank you for this special book! I cherish the many messages I get from it.

A wonder

A healing book to return to again and again.

I read this book when it first came out and was really excited to see it had come out on audio. This is a book I will come back to again and again. I keep it on my bedside table to pick up when I am feeling out of sorts. It is not a "how to be happy in 5 easy steps" manual. It is about how to come back to peace again and again in the middle of REAL life. The author lets us into her own life in such a vulnerable way, while filling each chapter with such depth. It truly felt like I was being given secret life lessons from a wise friend ahead of me in the journey. As a therapist, I work with many individuals coming out of hurtful relationships and trying to discover who they are again. This book is a tool I will recommend to my clients and to anyone who is endeavoring to live a wholehearted life. The gentle exercises included are practical and invaluable in applying the healing practices presented in each chapter. As a bonus, it is the author who reads the book in this audio version! I found her voice very calming and nurturing.

Some Good Parts

The author/narrator's voice was very soothing and easy to listen to for me.
There some good takeaways and applicable topics/processes.

My two main issues are these:
1 - she makes some serious "factual" statements that are not backed up with studies or references of any kind.
At one point the author even calls out that some of her ideas may seem strange.
really took away from the whole experience for me

2 - There was a lot of religious discussion and topics in the second half of the book.
I am in favor of people worshiping and believing as they see fit, that is their choice.
just dont make it a major part of your "guide to healing and transformation".


Would i consider this worth a credit? No
Was is a good read? i would give it a 6/10

Beautiful book. I loved it!

Fabulous book giving great insight into self love. I really connect with her journey and her words are inspiring. The life coach end is really thought provoking!

The audio book to soothe the soul.

For anyone wishing to reconnect with their inner self or for those looking for comfort and solace after any kind of major life event, this book is a blessing.
Debbie provides the narration and has such a soothing voice. It is perfect for the genre of the book and its very personal content. It lends so much to the authentic and heartfelt delivery.
It feels very much like your best friend has joined you in your living room and is holding your hand while sharing thoughts and experiences with you to help you along your way.
It is a delightful book which helps to shed light with which to lead us through some of Debbie's darker moments and which we can take with us to illuminate our own path going forward.
Particularly helpful are insights into how certain episodes have been reframed to become positive experiences.
A book I shall return to again and again.
Highly recommended.
