Science-based. Very intriguing.

What made the experience of listening to The Longevity Diet the most enjoyable?

The humor and realness that Dr. Longo brings to a very scientific subject. I also liked his frankness about his own potential bias's.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Longevity Diet?

The animal studies that prove his theories.

Scientifically tested fasting regimen

Valter Longo and his colleagues have provided the world with an invaluable service by generating the dietary information and results from his research. Now we not only know the research based target we also know how to reach it.

Science based diet

Very informative. Based on science, not woo or homeopathy. Cites many studies, Explains how diets are complexed and nuanced. Well done job on showing the reasoning behind the science. Basically the Mediterranean diet with a periodic 5-day diet that mimics fasting. Many studies showing the benefits of fasting. Safer than water only. The author goes out of his way of being upfront about a packaged diet (ProLon) which you can purchase for convenience and ensure you get all the micronutrients u need. All profits go back into the company, not to him. Very good book!

Autobiography & review of results of longevity by.

This book is a combination of autobiography and a condensed guide to the results of Professor Dr. Longo's research in longevity. I actually found myself quite enjoying the autobiographical portion although I can see how others might find it tedious. I did take a point off because I believe he could have laid out the longevity advice more clearly e.g I believe another reason he doesn't support a vegan diet is because he believes you should get the majority of your protein in one sitting and getting it through plant sources is implied to be to difficult due to the vast amount of food that would need to be consumed i.e 400 grams of garbanzo beans which he sights as an example as opposed to getting it across multiple meals however he didn't elaborate on this. Setting aside the vegan diet bias, it's a fascinating and mindful read that would be excellent primer for someone interested in further developing their understanding of how to live an longer and more healthful life. Dr. Valter Longo is mostly straightforward and concise about what he recommends which is a big plus side. I enjoyed this book so much actually I will also be purchasing the Kindle edition, a hardcopy if I come across one at the airport and regift it to someone who needs it.

A Doctors review

Brilliant, transforming,the future of preventive medicine.(only error is that high dose statins are now recommended and they really work. That change was made after this book was published so it’s not vaulter’s fault)

30 years of science based research!

this book is based on 30 years of science based research for longevity. It does not have recipes if that's what you're looking for but it is full of fantastic information on how to live a longer healthier life through food. I am excited to implement this science-based eating into my life!
