Story
In sales, the worst thing you can hear from a customer isn’t “no.” It’s “I need to think about it.” When this happens, deeply entrenched business advice says to double down on your efforts to sell a buyer on all the ways they might win by choosing you and your business. But this approach backfires dramatically. Why? Because it completely gets wrong the primary driver behind purchasing decision-making: once purchase intent is established, customers no longer care about succeeding. What they really care about is not failing.

Story
People don't buy from people they like. No! Your buyer doesn't care about you or your product or service. It's not your job to overcome objections, it's your buyer's. Closing isn't a skill of good salespeople; it's the skill of weak salespeople. Price isn't the main reason salespeople lose the sale. Gap Selling shreds traditional and closely held sales beliefs that have been hurting salespeople for decades. For years, salespeople have embraced a myriad of sales tactics and belief systems that have unknowingly created many of the issues they have been trying to avoid.

They actually have vastly different styles and backgrounds. Yet despite their differences, great managers share one common trait: They don’t hesitate to break virtually every rule held sacred by conventional wisdom. They don’t believe that, with enough training, a person can achieve anything he sets his mind to. They don’t try to help people overcome their weaknesses. And, yes, they even play favorites. In this longtime management bestseller, Gallup presents the remarkable findings of its massive in-depth study of great managers.

Publisher's summary
Elite Execution: Disciplines & Insights for Extraordinary Salespeople was written for experienced professionals. Jason Elmore shares practical action items and insightful concepts that have been compiled and tested during a sales career that spanned the globe, from B2B to Med Device, and resulted in top performance and accolades. These tools and approaches were recognized as being so critical to success that Jason was awarded the opportunity to build and execute new hire sales training at one of the fastest growing divisions of the world's largest healthcare company where he reduced average time to hit quota for new hires 50%.
Jason specializes in introducing disruptive technology to surgeons and the healthcare market. We all know selling isn't easy...and surgeons are some of the toughest customers. Surgeons outrank their sales representatives in just about every measure: experience, education, and income.
Additionally, a surgeon's decision to try something new can have life changing risks and benefits to patients. Combine all of that with the increasing financial pressures in healthcare, increasing regulation, multiple deal-killing, stakeholders in the system, and you have a recipe for what is perhaps the most complex sales environment today. Bottom line: what works here...will work anywhere.
As you begin to learn from Jason's proven experience, you will be exploring many critical concepts and disciplines:
- Articulate insights, manipulate variables, replicate success, translate it to others, and sustain your success
- Ask the right questions without asking too many
- Re-think roleplays to become a leader among your peers
- Diagram and diagnose broken sales calls and capture the keys to successful sales calls
- Find a sales job that matches your skills and experience
- Understand what motivates elite sales reps to achieve the exceptional
- Understand "walk-away power"
- And more....
Go beyond earning a high income to become absolutely invaluable to your organization. Know what works and feel confident about maximizing your current opportunity, taking the next opportunity, or moving up into leadership in the next role. Learn the sales disciplines and insights that lead to Elite Execution.

Story
They actually have vastly different styles and backgrounds. Yet despite their differences, great managers share one common trait: They don’t hesitate to break virtually every rule held sacred by conventional wisdom. They don’t believe that, with enough training, a person can achieve anything he sets his mind to. They don’t try to help people overcome their weaknesses. And, yes, they even play favorites. In this longtime management bestseller, Gallup presents the remarkable findings of its massive in-depth study of great managers.

In Silicon Valley slang, a "bozo explosion" is what causes a lean, mean, fighting machine of a company to slide into mediocrity. As Guy Kawasaki puts it, "If the two most popular words in your company are partner and strategic, and partner has become a verb, and strategic is used to describe decisions and activities that don't make sense"...then it's time for a reality check.

"Years ago, I wrote about a retail store in the Palo Alto environs—a good one, which had a box of two-cent candies at the checkout. I subsequently remember that 'little' parting gesture of the two-cent candy as a symbol of all that is Excellent at that store. Dozens of people who have attended seminars of mine have come up to remind me, sometimes 15 or 20 years later, of “the two-cent candy story,” and to tell me how it had a sizable impact on how they did business."

Must read for any sales professional!
As a medical device sales professional with more than a decade of experience I had all but given up reading sales books. At best you could hope to find a couple of tips worth adopting.
Elite Execution is not your typical sales book. The author begins with great insight into what it means to be a sales profession and then proceeds to open the flood gates with great practical and effective ideas that can be turned into immediate results. He moves from every day tips to in-depth strategic planning. These pearls of wisdom are what separate the average from truly elite reps selling disruptive technology in highly competitive sales.
