Publisher's Summary

It’s time to take your business to the next level.

Eileen Sharp and Vic Hightower were frustrated. After years of profitable, predictable growth, Swan Services was in a rut. Meetings were called and discussions held, but few decisions were made and even less got done. People were pointing fingers and assigning blame, but nothing happened to solve Swan’s mounting problems. It felt as though they were working harder than ever but with less impact. The company Eileen and Vic had founded and built for 10 years was a different place. It just wasn’t fun anymore.

Their story is not unusual. The challenges they were facing are common, predictable, and solvable. Get A Grip tells the story of how Swan Services resolves its issues by implementing the Entrepreneurial Operating System. With the help of EOS, Eileen, Vic, and their leadership team master a set of managerial tools that allow them to get traction on their business, grow the business, and deliver better results for clients.

The story of Swan Services is a fable, but the Entrepreneurial Operating System is very real and has helped thousands of businesses worldwide. A complete entrepreneurial toolkit, EOS has helped thousands of businesses get to where they want to be.

In Get a Grip, learn how Swan Services leaders learned to develop and commit to a clear vision, establish focus, build discipline, and create a healthier and more cohesive team.

With characters and situations created from collective business experiences and stories, Get a Grip is a fable that will ring true for entrepreneurial leaders the world over and guide them to get their companies on track.

Good content, but hard to listen to

The guy who reads this does a terrible job of breaking up sentences and thoughts. He reads it like one never-ending run-on sentence.

Very Good Companion Book to "Traction"

Very good. Companion book to "Traction", one of my top-three-ranked all-time business books. A well-written, very realistic (it's basically what we've experienced over the past two years) fictional account of a company getting itself organized using the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). Of you are interested, call me at Hunter Rowe Real Estate or search "Ben Goetz" on Google and call him, he is our "EOS Implementer".

Fast reader, not much of a fable

I got much more out of the actual "Traction" book. This "fable" is more like minutes from a business meeting than an actual story. Tough to get through. Plus the narrator was pretty speedy-- tough to follow.

Effective !

Business leaders, entrepreneurs and business groups will benefit from this practical system of resolving all too common growth issues. This story is helpful by providing a fly on the wall approach to identifying and systematically resolving those issues as well as the people issues that go along with a teams. Very effective methodologies that help achieve the targeted results!

Really A Good Book

This book really helps me to see the possibilities for my own small business. I am just getting started but this book helps me to see how to start correctly and set the core values and vision of my company now before we grow large. I truly enjoyed the practical application of the concepts of traction illustrated in this book.

A true and practical entrepreneurial guide

very well written and well narrated, great book for any business owner. highly recommended in you're starting, growing, or building a startup, or any business. I would read Traction after this, to do the actual implementation.

The greatest entrepreneurs guide I've ever come across

The Entrepreneur Operating System described is brilliant in its simplicity and full of practical tools for running a business.
The EOS is exceptionally well described through a realistic and very relatable example that make this book easy to listen to.

A more digestible version of the companion

What did you love best about Get a Grip?

Life like portrayal of a business scenario. Naturally, the protagonist is the EOS implementer (consultant).

What other book might you compare Get a Grip to and why?

This is the 'business fable' version of Traction. I think it makes all the same points in a more compelling manner.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No - I enjoyed absorbing it over about two weeks.

Story is very hard to follow

What would have made Get a Grip better?

The way the book is written with multiple characters is hard to follow. It's even more challenging to extract business advice in order to apply it. Traction was a helpful book. This one could have been if the format was easier to follow.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Confusion
