Publisher's Summary

Recent cutting-edge research shows that human intestinal microbiota influences metabolism, appetite, energy, hormones, inflammation, and insulin resistance. Because gut microflora plays a central role in weight management, losing weight is much more than cutting calories, fat, or carbs. When the trillions of live bacteria in our digestive tract - the gut microbiome - are balanced, excess pounds melt away, and we feel revitalized.

A leading authority on digestive health and the gut microbiome, Gerard E. Mullin, MD, shares the first proven, science-based program to restore and retain weight loss by achieving a balanced gut flora in The Gut Balance Revolution. He reveals how to stifle the fat-forming, disease-promoting gut bacteria, reseed your gut with good fat-burning ones, and fertilize those friendly flora with just the right foods to reboot, rebalance, and renew your health - and lose weight for good.

Incredible book!

I've studied nutrition and health for 20 years. I'm excited to try this after seeing the results in my BFF! Her countenance glows with health at 47 yrs. I'm impressed. Months will go by whether you do this or not, so just do it. Find the joy in the natural flavor of food. It isn't supposed to always be sweet. Just eat it and reap the rewards. It's worth it. Thanks for this book!!

Improve your health-read/listen to this book

Dr. Mullin is a gastroenterologist with a wealth of knowledge as well as personal and practical experience with the gut microbiome. This book was recommended to me by a doctor at a weightloss clinic. It can and will change your relationship to food and change your life, for the better. Do yourself a favor, improve your health today to live a longer, better, healthier life-read or listen to this book today. I recommend listening to it in the car AND buying the book as a hands-on resource guide.

What to eat, why - bought a hardcopy too

A great overview of what we need to do to repair years of damage to our gut and why it is important. I bought the hardcopy of this book after listening to this book - for quicker reference and periodic review of this important message.

Three Hours Of Prelude

I suffered through 3 hours of listening to endless explanations of what was to come, peppered with catchy acronyms, to FINALLY be told that I should avoid sugar and what to expect in the next chapter. I could not suffer for another two hours until I would find out what that might be and did not finish this book. A waste of my time. I felt patronized and misled.

Too much focus on the review of other diets.

Could have been much better or much shorter. Too much focus on the review of other diets.

Well written and presented conceptually!

Overall great intro to the microbiome world but a little more focus on supplements would have been great.
