Stop living in fear

When I turned this book on I wasn't sure what to expect. Much of self help seems to be a repeat of the same stuff (get up early, stop being a victim, meditate, eat healthy, think positive, ect) so I wasn't sure what spin Mel would bring to this topic. I am a big fan of Mel's and did listen to Kick Ass, her last book. I loved Kick Ass so I did have high hopes for this. When I saw Mel mention her new book in her newsletter I downloaded it right away. Now that I've finished–WOW is all I can say. First, it's way way longer than Kick Ass and has tons of information in it. So much. It's all about how fear holds us back and how we can figure out the way that fear affects us as a person and change that. Mel says that it doesn't matter what other habits you have if you're held hostage by fear, and that really rang true with me. Like Kick Ass this book has coaching sessions, but in this case the coaching sessions were more of teaching moment. Then, after each session, Mel would talk for over an hour about each, sharing advice and takeaways. My favorite part of the book was when Mel shared her personal stories. I didn't realize how funny she is! I also liked how there were a variety of people coached. While I definitely resonated with some more than others, I did get something from each one. I also thought it was good how Mel really went through each action item in a ton of detail and shared the research and science behind what she was teaching. As I was listening the only downside was that there is SO much information covered that it was hard to remember it all (I listened to most of it in the car). Which is why I am so happy to see that Audible included a workbook in my library. I took a look at the workbook and saw that the lessons are all summarized which is so helpful! I am going to start filling out the workbook this weekend. Overall, Mel, you have done it again. This book was such an amazing listen and I couldn't believe how many times I nodded my head thinking "SHE GETS ME."

Amazing content!

Would absolutely recommend this book. Use the online workbook alongside the audiobook, it has great introspective exercises.
Mel has great energy, I listened to the book at 1.25 speed and it flowed really well.

Mel Robbins is my Guru!

I have a feeling that I’m going to listen to this Audible book over and over again!! There are so many lessons to be learned and tools to be used to make changes in your life! I love the way Mel coaches different people with different problems and I felt I could identify with many of them and now I can start to break the patterns of behavior! I have always said, you can’t change other people, you can only change your response to them. Mel gives clear steps on how to do that!! Buy this book if you want to take control of your life and learn how!!

Effective tools I can use to be the best me

I appreciate each person who sat with Mel during the coaching sessions. I felt connected to each one and learned something about myself from each story. Thank you Mel and staff for all you do to make the world a better place.

I feel like now I know what to do

Wow. I'm just finishing up this audiobook and I feel like I'm going to need a few days to digest this. I actually had to keep pausing the book to take notes on my phone because there are so many nuggets in here I didn't want to forget. Though I resonated with everyone in this book to some extent, I think I am most like Dan. Sooo much I want to do in this lifetime and there are days it feels like I'm running out of time. But now I understand that by living in that kind of mindset, time is actually moving faster. OMG, so true! So this past weekend I scheduled a few minutes to sloooow way down, and I planned a few bricks for the week. :) Thanks, Mel! Loving your work.

I love the work that Mel Robbins puts into the coaching calls in how in depth she dives into the break theories for the listeners. This is by far one of her best publications yet. But I believe that the best is yet to come

Well Balanced Perspective with a Clear Message

This Audible Original series with Mel is really quite powerful. It doesn't build on her earlier release, but instead digs into the real roadblocks to us being able to live a full and fulfilled life. It doesn't seem to matter how big or small our fears, whatever we conjure up - they still manage to slow our progress. She offers some diversity of perspective given the different interviewees and their background. Her voice allows you to accelerate the listening speed and still easily digest the concepts. Well done.

Even better than Kick Ass!!

Mel, thank you for this. I listened to Take Control because I LOVED Kick Ass and I was so excited to hear that Mel was doing another audiobook. The stories of the guests were so interesting... I especially loved Cassandra's... heartbreaking but also very hopeful. Thank you for this Mel!

AMAZING!

absolutely loving this book

I've only listened to a quarter of this book so far, but I love, love, love what I'm hearing. I'm a huge fan of Mel Robbins and have other material/programmes that she has done, but this book so far is the best yet ! I love her down to earth manner and she really gets into your head. Her advice works, if you are willing to listen, learn and do the work one small brick at a time, you will breakthrough ! highly recommended. There's also a workbook to go with it which is once again excellent content, great practical guidelines.

Amazing!

Truly on one the best I’ve listened to - and I’ve listened to many! Heaps of key takeaways resonated and brought me to tears as I had my own mini breakthroughs. Highly recommended.

Mel Robbins is a legend!

After following Mel on Facebook for some time and listening to the #mindsetreset programme, purchasing this audiobook was the natural next step in taking control of my life. There are lots of relatable themes throughout, and the conversations were held beautifully and respectfully. After listening to this audible, you will be able to recognise the first signs of fear, how it manifests itself in the body and apply techniques in how to overcome the existing patterns which hold you back from making positive changes.

No BS tolerated

Loved this, although it triggered some major physical and emotional reactions. Mel has a direct, no nonsense approach and it works for me. Sound advice that is unpacked and explained clearly. Listening to real life individuals sharing their coaching sessions has a far greater impact than simply reading about them. Strongly recommend.

Mel is confident and a strong speaker

That said not all of the stories sat with me, but that’s ok. It would be kinda weird to identify with half a dozen individual stories. Overall it’s solid advice and what I could I expect from my therapist, if only she gave me more than 15 minutes per session.

Not impressed

After a long intro with some good ideas on the topic there are 6 stories from other people. This book isn't what it presents itself as, feeling pretty ripped off right now.

Thinking too big

I’ve been paralysed in moving forward with the things I need to do. It’s actually very clear what I need to do. I just can’t move because I haven’t got all the rest of what I’m going to do after I make the change fully planned out. So I do nothing. Stuck stuck stuck. I’m only one chapter in and it’s amazing the insights I’ve had into what’s stopping me. In line with my thinking too big mindset I was going listen to it all in one night. I’m happy to go to sleep now thinking about what I’ve learned about myself so far and how to quiet the busyness of my life so that I can grow. I can’t wait to listen to the book and tackle the workbook. Thank you.

Life changing must listen to audible book from Mel Robbins

This audible book was life changing for me. I love Mel’s passion, enthusiasm and ability to offer practical advice. Great to hear from people who tell their story and hear what Mel has to say to them- she truly has a gift.
