Publisher's summary

Good Sugar Bad Sugar tackles the biggest dietary threat to the modern world: sugar.

Due to refined sugar in so many foods, we are seeing epidemics of obesity and type II diabetes on a global scale.

The warnings are stark - a 50 percent rise in the death toll from type II diabetes in the next 10 years - yet it's not as straightforward as telling people to cut down on the sugar. Sugar consumption is an addiction that begins at birth, and it requires a proven method to get you free.

Good Sugar Bad Sugar applies Allen Carr's Easyway method to this problem of sugar addiction, unraveling the brainwashing that makes us see sugary food as a pleasure or a crutch and replacing it with clearly explained logic.

This book is a tool

Giving a book like this a 5-star review is a little strange but I have great reasoning. Allen Carr has shown me how to be a non-smoker with his Easyway method. It works for me and it works on a logical level. He gives you the information and guides you to the mind frame of not wanting the nicotine, or in this case the Bad Sugar. This book does the exact same thing and it can really help you FEEL better without feeling deprived. It's not overly entertaining and to be honest, there really isn't any secret or surprise information within this book. What is there is an organized and reinforced method to reset your mind and show you the path to better health. This works for me, someone who doesn't think Self Help books are useful. It gets a 5 because if you have an addiction problem, and if you are looking at this book you probably do (I did), this option should be the first place you look.

Carr changes lives.

Carr has described addiction and found a solution to any type of addiction. Read his stop smoking book, too. The same problem and solution, but characterized for a nicotine addiction. I am floored at what Carr has done for me. Here, Good Sugar Bad Sugar has completely removed the desire for sugar and processed foods. It's given me my palate back. If you've seen obesity and/or addiction up close you know... This book will help you understand the addicted mind. I've dieted down to approx 10% bf in the last several years, but simply could not stop eating sugar/processed foods. I have read Carr's stop smoking book, but could not apply it to food/sugar on my own. This book bridged the gap and is priceless to me. Priceless.

Excellent

With Allen Carr I have completely quit alcohol and sugar with no desire for either. I don't feel deprived, but more like a bird who's cage just got opened. If this book doesn't do it for you in quitting sugar, also read Sugar Blues by William Duffy.

Underwhelming.

For those of us who actually struggle with sugar addiction, this book seemed filled with fluff. I kept waiting for the punchline.

bah

Just wasn't good. Bland, pseudoscience hokum. Painful to finish. The only good thing about the book is it's short run time, since I won't get those minutes back.

Love Carrs control alcohol but this is a bit extreme

I’m glad I read this but it’s a bit extreme.

His control alcohol book changed my life and made quitting drinking east. There are elements of this that really make sense to me… but I think it goes too far and he just can’t help push his vegan or as close to vegan as you can get cause which I don’t want to hear about when I’m talking about sugar. Bummer.

It really works to end your desire for sugar!

it worked great as far as quitting the desire for bad sugar. However the only thing I did not agree with was his diet recommendations for fruit, vegetables nuts and seeds. Most people require much higher protein and healthy fats than what he is recommending.. but again this was great as far as quitting sugar. I no longer want it.

Helped me quit sugar

The book did exactly as advertised, it helped me quit sugar for good. I've tried off and on but always found myself "treating" myself back to it. This book helped me get out the lies that kept me coming back occasionally, trapping myself all over again. Unexpectedly, I also discovered how to eat less and still feel satisfied thanks to this book. I Also have an idea how to conquer any addiction by the principles found in this book. Highly recommend!

As good as "quite smoking"

So far lost 42 pounds (in 5 months) and it is not the end, if you ever had a problem with weight, add this book in "must read", if it will not change your life after you read it first time, just read second time
