Publisher's summary

Learn how to leave guilt behind for good! Life coach Valorie Burton teaches you a simple yet profound method that will free you from the “false guilt” that is so common among busy women today.

Even women who feel fulfilled often struggle to meet the demands of modern life. Both working and stay-at-home moms agree that the expectations of women have risen dramatically in recent decades.

As a result, many women overcompensate and over-apologize while the guilt dampens the joy of motherhood, relationships, and professional accomplishments. Let Go of the Guilt helps you peel back the layers of emotional, cultural, and spiritual expectations that make it difficult to navigate your multiple roles, dreams, and daily demands on your life.

Through her signature self-coaching process, powerful questions, and practical research, Valorie Burton shows you how to:

  • Recognize and overcome the five thought patterns of guilt
  • Break the surprising habit that tempts you to subconsciously choose guilt over joy,
  • Stop guilt from sneaking its way into your everyday decisions and interactions,
  • Flip those guilt trips so you can keep others from manipulating you, and
  • Stop setting yourself up for stress, anxiety, and obligation, and instead set yourself for a life of joy and freedom

Valorie’s journaling questions and research-based process will shift your perspective, give you clarity and courage, and equip you with a plan of action to let go of the guilt for good.

A must read for all women

I listen to Patrice Washington Pod Cast and Valerie was her guest - listening to Valerie speak literally changed my life - Because he gave me a new perspective it was one of those suddenly immediately moments that you read about in the Bible. This book it is perfect - the content is meaningful impactful and relevant. Well thought out organized. And her delivery tone and pace also Executed perfectly. I’m sure the podcast with everyone I know or that I think it would listen I am doing the same with this book-

Healing.

Couldn’t be more grateful that I picked up this book. Valerie tells such fitting stories along with profound teaching in this book. It’s an easy read, considering she covers a pretty hefty topic. I can honestly say that I did not think that I struggled with guilt. I think I just didn’t have a name for it. This book has left me feeling lighter and grateful- equipped so that I can move forward. I think you should read it to.

Not meant for non-religious people

Didn't work for me at all, had to stop listening mid-book, tried to force myself to finish it, but couldn't take it. It started off innocently enough, with relatable stories and experiences... and then it started. God this. God that. Gratuitous references from the Bible. You're in trouble? Pray for this. Ask God for that. Etc. After it started to expand on how guilt makes you a better, more convenient member of society, I couldn't listen anymore.

The thing is, I'm normally not at all allergic to authors of self-help books invoking religious references here and there. We all have our faiths, after all. With this book, for some reason, it felt extremely annoying. I felt like I stumbled into a Bible study group I did not sign up for. Maybe if anything in the description had warned me to expect it, it wouldn't have been so jarring, but as it was, it was a very unpleasant surprise. If you're religious, you'll probably like it just fine. If you're not, you now know what to expect and can make an informed decision.
