embarking on your path to better health

This self-help guide dives into how eating good ol' whole foods can do wonders for your health. The book's a real gem because it's not just relatable but also dishes out some super useful info and a handy list of medical tests. In a nutshell, I'd totally recommend this guide. It's got all the lowdown on stuff like why whole foods are awesome, finding happiness in your grub, getting to know yourself, tuning into your body's signals, dealing with other health issues, tasty yet healthy recipes, and just living your best, wholesome life.

Great information

I am someone who has always struggled with their weight as I seem to put it as a last priority. In the last year, I added a second job to my plate and so now I work at a computer at least 17-18 hours a day sitting down. I have pretty much put everything else besides my health as a priority. I am also aging and have noticed various things going on with me that I can't quite explain but then also try not to pay attention to. So when I got to chapter 4 about learning how to focus on my body and provide it what it needs, I really honed in to understand what I need to be doing. There are subtle signs my body is giving me to try to get my attention as a way of communicating. One example would be I hear my stomach gurgling a lot more often. Learning to listen to my body, I figured out I had recently developed a sensitivity to garlic which I have always loved but I noticed any of my meals with garlic were giving me an upset stomach.

I also really like that there is a wrap-up session at the end of every chapter because there is a lot of information shared so being sure that I can retain it and be able to put it to good use is important. I also like that the book is not advocating for drastic dieting or being super restrictive. Instead, the author is trying to teach you why making informed food choices that align with your needs is important.

It's nice that this book is about taking control of your body and what your body wants and needs as well as learning to listen to your body as it is trying to give you hints of what it wants. I like the approach this book takes and I think the author has done a great job of engaging the listener and encouraging them to take control of their health.

Food for thought

This was a really interesting listen, beautifully-narrated and filled with an abundance of straight-to-the-point information. I've been putting off making serious changes when it comes to gut health and nutrition and this book has made me much more conscious of the impacts this might have. It was also a highly motivational tool for myself. I certainly recommend a listen!

Good Information

I enjoyed listening to this book and found it to be I sightful. I have hypothyroidism, and the diet suggested has been beneficial to feeling better in my experience. The recipes sound amazing, I'm definitely going to be trying them out!

Joyful Embrace of Healthy Eating

This enthusiastic and inspiring book tells the wonderful story of how an older woman combatted her chronic conditions through dietary changes–namely a diet focused on whole foods (not just vegan or vegetarian foods). This is no holier-than-thou lecture. The author believes in loving what you eat and eating to feel good, not just to be healthy, and this book is a love letter to whole foods. The book also contains extensive information on the many ways our bodies use different foods, and she demonstrates that a broad variety of tasty whole foods is ideal for feeling satisfied and healthy. A nice touch is the inclusion of several simple yet hearty entree and dessert recipes to entice the reader to think of whole foods as a legitimate replacement for comfort foods.
