They actually have vastly different styles and backgrounds. Yet despite their differences, great managers share one common trait: They don’t hesitate to break virtually every rule held sacred by conventional wisdom. They don’t believe that, with enough training, a person can achieve anything he sets his mind to. They don’t try to help people overcome their weaknesses. And, yes, they even play favorites. In this longtime management bestseller, Gallup presents the remarkable findings of its massive in-depth study of great managers.

Since then, and for over 25 years, he has read hundreds of books, tested countless strategies, and interviewed dozens of the best salespeople to figure out what sets the extraordinary ones apart from the rest.

Story
That's an old and honorable sentiment. A lot of good has been done in the world by people practicing The Golden Rule. As a guide to personal values, it can be a powerful force for honesty and compassion. But as a yardstick for communication, The Golden Rule has a downside. If applied verbatim, it can backfire and actually cause personality conflicts. Why? Because following The Golden Rule literally treating people the way you'd like to be treated means dealing with others from your own perspective. It implies that we're all alike, that what I want and need is exactly what you want and need....

Interesting discovery of the personality of one’s self and those around you
As a person who wants to fit in, this book was refreshing and a great reminder that we are all naturally different but can still work well together using the right communication skills.
The only issue I had was that the audio book was not identical to the physical book. I love to listen to the audio book as I am following along to the physical book. So there were maybe about 3-5 times when the books did not line up & I had to skip pages.

Decent Audio
This is a useful program for anyone wanting to learn how to get along better with others or if you want to increase your influence with others. Make sure you draw the diagram described in the audio to get the full impact of the method. A bit too much focus on applying the technique with sales but otherwise a well balanced approach to this method.
