Publisher's summary

Emily Boller’s self-help book provides the necessary inspiration, education, and practical tips for you to escape food addiction - and in the process, shed unwanted pounds and reclaim your health.

Chubby in childhood, anorexic in her teens, and then obese until age 47, Emily Boller was desperate to find freedom from her struggles with food. When she began documenting her weight loss journey online, she never expected to become an inspirational voice for food addiction recovery to millions.

Starved to Obesity combines her personal journey, hard-won wisdom, and practical tips with Joel Fuhrman, MD’s teachings to create a powerful resource that will inspire and help you break free from entanglements that sabotage health and well-being. And, as the result of losing a child to suicide, she knows firsthand the impact of trauma and grief on addiction recovery - and how to recover from relapse as well. If you want long-term freedom, this audiobook will show you the way!

“I have written this audiobook because I wholeheartedly wish there had been a book such as this when I was a kid. It would have been helpful to me and to those in my circles of influence...and could’ve possibly saved me and my then- and future family many years of needless pain and suffering.” (Emily Boller)

“She has learned a lot and is now a scholar in this field of health transformations.” (Joel Fuhrman, MD, board-certified family physician specializing in nutritional medicine, six-time New York Times best-selling author, including Eat to Live)

“I will recommend Starved to Obesity to all of my patients struggling with weight, food addictions and, emotional challenges of many kinds. It is a gift to us all.” (Michael Klaper, MD, nutrition-based medicine, author, speaker)

Helpful and hopeful

For years I have been telling myself that I don’t have an addiction but your story has made me realize that all of my behaviors were clearly a sign of food addiction I will be looking for counseling and lifestyle changes. The story was hopeful and your experience is helpful. Thank you

This book changed how we approach food

Emily shares about her difficult upbringing and how she turned her life around, in part due to nutritarian eating. Her story is compelling. We were already interested in healthy eating, but I appreciated learning more about what to eat and why. We adjusted our approach to food after reading this book. Thank you Emily Boller for sharing your story!

What I needed to reflect upon my food issues.

This is an examination of food addiction and how to reslove it. i knew about Dr. Fuhrman for some time. This book cemented the concepts and strategies of overcoming eating disorders. It also offered the author's real life struggles. I appreciate it more than my current vocabulary can express.

The book I wish I had as a teen!

This is the book! Short and concise, and full of wisdom earned by the author. I am so grateful to have found it!

A waste of time and money

Just read Dr. Fuhrman's books, especially Eat to Live. This book is basically a "Dr. Fuhrman says..." from start to finish, with a few bible lectures sprinkled in here and there. There's a little bit of autobiographical content about the author's weight loss journey, but mostly this is a book by a Dr. F. superfan (and employee), retelling his works and describing in very little detail how it worked for her. Basically, in order to be able to use any of the advice she gives, you need to read dr. Fuhrman's works. There is not much original content. Save yourself the money and go straight to the source.

Just a cookbook

Just into the second chapter was what she ate and how to prepare it. I was looking for help on conquering a food addiction not learning how to cook.
Very disappointed.
