Engaging audio book

What made the experience of listening to Eat Fat, Get Thin the most enjoyable?

In sampling audio books, I've noticed that the reader makes a world of difference. Some authors are complete snoozers, while other professional readers are too dramatic. Dr. Hyman does a fantastic job reading this book. HIs delivery gives you the impression that he's not reading, but rather talking to you directly. He's very conversational in his presentation, which makes it easy to listen to.

What did you like best about this story?

The book is truly a treasure trove of vital (pardon the pun) information. My nutritionist already ascribes to much of Dr. Hyman's philosophy of health; however, I'd never gotten an "outline" of how much to eat of the good stuff. I have actually gained weight on low-carb, high-diets because I've gone "nuts on nuts." Dr. Hyman explained that while there's no calorie-counting or prescriptive formula, there were some parameters (e.g., no more than 2 to 3 servings of nuts a day, I believe he said -- and a serving is not the cup of walnuts I'd been eating). He also said to aim for 70% of calories from fat and to make vegetables 2/3 of your plate by volume (I believe those were the counts...). Those are not stiff rules, but general guidelines that, for me, made a huge difference and allowed me to see that although I've been eating a Paleo/Primal diet for years, the reason I've GAINED WEIGHT by doing so -- if you can even imagine -- is that I've been eating like an Olympian. Not a good idea when you have a sedentary job.

No. No idea.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not what I'd call a moving book, as it's non-ficition, but it's darned good info. I'm on my second listening.

Any additional comments?

Dr. Hyman's my new fave. I bounce between Gary Taubes, Dr. Perlmutter, Dr. Mercola, Jon Gabriel, the Weston Price Foundation, and occasionally William Davis of Wheat Belly fame. Dr. Hyman's my current go-to.

Outstanding information that every person should know!

There is not one person in America that wouldn't benefit from reading this book! Such great information for people to live longer, happier, healthier lives. My chiropractor recommended this book to me, and I am forever grateful!

Delivered on it's promised content.

It opened my eyes to the cause of our epidemic of allergies and diseases rooted in the diet changes of my generation, & yours as well as our children. Diet & chemicals are the only common thread over the last 50 years. Diseases of your lifetime or lifestyle can only be tied to or explained in the mass changes of diet endorsed by our government, doctors & corporations.

Very inspirational

This book was chock full of evidence for eating fat and has inspired me to start the diet. The authors voice was engaging and kept me interested. I was very moved by this piece of work.

Best Guide To Nutrition I've read!

This books is extremely informative with a solid basis in research and science. It has clear explanations regarding the dietary recommendations and easy to follow guidelines with lots of additional free online information on the associated website. If you are looking to improve your health, lose weight and keep it off, and reverse the effects of various chronic diseases as well as decrease the need for and possibly eliminate various medications, then this is the right book for you!

This book is a must read for anyone who values their health. I loved listening to the book from narrated by Hyman himself.

Must keep up plan. I have discovered much of this book from trial & error. I am reassured that this working plan is safe & onward to finish loosing 30 lbs of the 50 l bs I started loosing!
