Publisher's Summary

Help to transform the planet in crisis with this indispensable guide to healthy, ethical, and economically sustainable food from number one New York Times best-selling author Mark Hyman, MD

"Read this book if you're ready to change the world." (Tim Ryan, US Representative).

Food is our most powerful tool to reverse the global epidemic of chronic disease, heal the environment, reform politics, and revive economies. What we eat has tremendous implications not just for our waistlines, but also for the planet, society, and the global economy. What we do to our bodies, we do to the planet; and what we do to the planet, we do to our bodies.

In Food Fix, number one best-selling author Mark Hyman explains how our food and agriculture policies are corrupted by money and lobbies that drive our biggest global crises: the spread of obesity and food-related chronic disease, climate change, poverty, violence, educational achievement gaps, and more.

Pairing the latest developments in nutritional and environmental science with an unflinching look at the dark realities of the global food system and the policies that make it possible, Food Fix is a hard-hitting manifesto that will change the way you think about - and eat - food forever, and will provide solutions for citizens, businesses, and policy makers to create a healthier world, society, and planet.

Critic Reviews

"Our global food system has produced an unhealthy planet, thanks to the food industry's push for unsustainable ultra-processed food. Food Fix highlights the need to focus on what we put on our plates as a way to improve our diets, our health, and the health of the planet." (Barry M. Popkin, PhD, W. R. Kenan, Jr., Distinguished Professor of Nutrition, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill)

"Dr. Hyman is a modern-day Hippocrates, a pied piper with a clarion call to heal ourselves with healthy food and good habits, as well to rethink and realign our food system to support greater health in the world. His voice is at once fresh, powerful, informed, passionate, and encouraging, and his book a must read for us all." (Walter Robb, Stonewall Robb Advisors, former co-CEO of Whole Foods Market)

"Mark Hyman may be our leading physician social visionary. In his most important book yet, he shows how our food economy could be reshaped to make us more prosperous and, more important, healthier." (Lawrence H. Summers)

The most life changing book you will ever read! Read Now. Please

This is metaphysically CREATOR GIVEN into Hyman’s spirit, to our spirits. This is Nobel prize in Literature worthy. I’m a little jealous. But even more great full and empowered.

Repetitive

The book makes a great case in the beginning but then restates it repeatedly. Seems like this book for be like 3/4 shorted and still get the point across.

Everyone who eats need to hear this book!

This book covers how the food companies screw over everyone. The value of this book is the references to many reports and companies that are trying to fix this issue. The info on how companies infiltrate government, schools, media, and our communities is worth 1000x the price of it! Although we can't stop companies from wanting profit over everything else, but we can, as individuals, make differences to improve our own health. The book is a bit repetitive, in places, but it has so many valuable insights that it is well worth the listen!

Just start...

I loved this book by chapter 2, I started composting. By chapter 8, I ordered “What The Heck Should I Eat” the cookbook. Starting, learning more every day. Voting with my dollar buying local grass fed, and organic.

So informative! I’m telling everyone to read it!!

The transformation of our food system is the number one issue affecting global warming. This book is bursting with information about the role food plays in politics, economics, the environment, our health and behavior. I’m so glad that Dr. Hyman wrote this book! He also lets you know what you can do, personally, to be kinder to the environment and your body - and it doesn’t require you to go vegan! (Even though I sorta like eating vegan).
