Publisher's summary

On his final day alive, Scribe convenes a reunion of his closest friends. Though they’d been separated since a harrowing climb on Mt. Kilimanjaro, Scribe hopes the gathering will inspire an actionable plan for humanity in the face of existential challenges. Through a series of conversations, debates, and negotiations, the participants develop a blueprint for the way forward.

Writing as “Zero,” author Bryan Johnson is an entrepreneur and explorer of the new frontiers of being human. Johnson took stock of his health and realized that a decade of chronic depression and poor cognitive control earlier in life had affected every measure of his well-being. He decided it was time to fight back. In DON’T DIE, Johnson catalogs the social and philosophical strategies necessary for the fight, both individually and as a species. Johnson’s controversial ideas and methods have attracted both detractors and devoted followers around the globe.

Boring and Lacking

The entire book is written in a metaphor as though the separate emotions in Bryan were entirely different people. There's barely any facts or useful information about longevity. It was a bit painful to go through and definitely disappointing, I'm sure someone out there will like it that's why I felt bad scoring it poorly.

Not What I Expected

Saw this in a TikTok as one of the three books you need to read to change your life. I didn't walk away with any new ideas.

Not what I hoped for

Turns out the information I wanted is free on Bryan Johnson’s website. Five stars for creativity in the way he wrote the book and I wouldn’t NOT recommend it. I just didn’t find it useful since I’m already on board. I might come back and listen again later on now that my brain is ready for the quirky manner in which the material is shared.

Worth another listen to full grasp

Bryan’s mind is truly remarkable. His life-changing mentality, coupled with the ability to articulate goals through creative dialogue in this book, is inspiring. I hope our generation can adapt, evolve, and fully grasp the significance of his work in our lifetime...

A philosophical Pilgrim’s Progress for the 21st century science lover

Tonight I listened to "Don't Die" by Zero on Amazon Audible and I must say, it was an **epic** experience. In the delightfully whimsical form of an allegory featuring all the different “Bryans”, this book offers a blueprint for humanity in the face of existential challenges and is a must-read for anyone who wants to rethink who they are and what they can do for humanity.

The author's ideas and methods are controversial, but they have the undeniable weight of science, logic, and thoughtfulness behind them that had me nodding along with many of his arguments and feeling empowered to make a difference in the world. The book is a masterpiece that has the potential to change lives. It's like a superhero movie, but instead of fighting villains, you're fighting your own demons!

I laughed, I cried, and I even did a few cartwheels while listening to this book. It's that good! If you're looking for a book that will make you feel like you can conquer the world, then "Don't Die" is the book for you. Just make sure you have a cape handy when you're done listening.

Brian Johnson, I’m tryin’ to be like you when I grow up. Keep up the good work, sir!

Don’t die, y’all!

Disappointed and very bored

The book is an exhausting, long-form metaphorical conversation between different qualities within the author like dark humor and model builder. It might have worked better if he’d taken some time to introduce the characters better so that we understood what it means to be a model builder, for instance. But the joke ran far too long and became so tiresome that I kept fast forgetting parts to see if he would drop this device and get on with a more straightforward narrative or share some useful scientific knowledge. For a man who loves scientific measurements and hacking the body so much, I had hoped he would share more on that. I’m not sure what the point of this book was. I really enjoy his podcast interviews so I’m just disappointed. Oh well.

Boring retelling of a meetup

I got this book because I was curious to learn more about Bryan Johnson’s pursuit of longevity and the blueprint project. Instead I got a 6+ hour painstaking recount of a meet up of a few of his friends and everything everyone said and did. It was completely boring and unenlightening as it relates to learning anything about longevity or the blueprint project.
