Publisher's Summary

The fictional Admiral Janitorial Services has a problem: employees are leaving in droves, and they don't know what to do about it. Interpreting a series of employee surveys, the general manager comes up with a solution that walks the "thin line between genius and madness": hire a "dream manager", part life coach and part financial adviser, to help employees achieve their dreams.

For example, one woman dreams of buying her first home, while one man hopes to find more time to spend with his family. In an unexpected twist, the dream manager even helps employees find new jobs when they no longer have room to grow in their current ones.

In The Dream Manager, best-selling author Matthew Kelly teaches employers how to bridge the gap between their employees' current jobs and the futures they dream of, making them happier and more loyal to the company. Complete with a section on tools to get you going, this inspiring audiobook teaches an important lesson about self-fulfillment that applies both to the workplace and to life outside of it.

Dream Manager Is Dream Implementer

Would you try another book from Matthew Kelly and/or David Slavin?

Unlikely

What do you think your next listen will be?

The 4 Disciplines of Execution

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Narrator was fine.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Powerful premise - teams are the sum of the members - members are more motivated and likely to succeed by tying in to their individual dream.

Any additional comments?

After laying out a powerful premise the book is painfully short on specifics and quite frankly seemed like a novel on how the author wished the world to be. It felt sort of like "a cure to cancer is important ... let's cure cancer ... skeptical researchers got together and after talking about initial obstacles >>> poof! <<< cancer was cured!". The book was supposedly a compilation of real cases. Why not delve more into real issues and show us more on real life obstacles and challenges?

OH FOR C- SAKES GET TO THE POINT I said that lots

I purchased this book on a strong recommendation from a friend.. Still scratching my head on that one.. Maybe I got the wrong book??? I struggled to get through this ~ I can see why employees would be excited by this book and I can see that a company with huge employee turn over might want to give this at least a thought, but it wasn't for me. Frankly I was glad when it was over. I had to replay many of the side stories thinking I missed something because they didn't seem to fit the lesson.. I was like WTF did I miss? . Lastly - Read the title - that's the whole story. PS: last 20 minutes is the Author talking about himself and how millions of heard him speak.

Short parable to redesign your business

This was a interesting book to listen to. It was short and easy to follow. It covers a new paradigm of how to drive business based on the needs, and more importantly dreams of the employees that will help turn a business around. It presents a model of getting people engaged again again rather than just showing up and taking up space.

I particularly enjoyed the actual interview at the end of the book with the author. I probably should have listened to it 1st in order to hear the author's voice through the rest of the performance, which was a good performance and easy to listen to. I look forward to hearing more about businesses that are implementing the dream manager approach to driving their businesses in a world where businesses need employees to be fully engaged.
