A really likeable xenocidal maniac.

Story first, a great mythic hero/villain of the distant past is awoken from his millenia and a half slumber to fight the elves. He proceeds murder the hell out of people, tries to get laid and pieces together his tragic past from slowly returning memories.
All in all a great time.
Now the big issue is the narration. He can't seem to come up with more than the one voice, at least not for long. There was one guy who had a different voice at the beginning but that dropped by the end. This kind of thing I can ignore. When you have the dude do sex scenes it's so unbelievably awkward.
4/5, Story makes everything so worth.

Narrator

The narrator didn’t define his characters with inflections or voices if you didn’t pay attention all the characters sounded the same

I am so fucking excited to read this next book.

I'm sorry but anyone who thinks that this book is bad is an idiot it has a great story interesting characters Michael Scott Earle obviously knows a little bit about amnesia and how it affects people and most importantly I have never been happier to see a book where elves aren't the good guys nine times out of 10 in a book you hear that they're incredibly racist but not that there evil in general. This book was great the ending is what's making me need to read the next one immediately and I will purchase I cannot wait to finish this series and find out how it all turns out. the sex scenes but that's coming from someone who likes a good slow burn, were actually fantastic the voice actor was very good as well. reading this book makes me wish that Amazon would get their shit together because I am dying to finish the star Justice series and they own the copyrights but for some reason they refuse to release it if this is a middle-earth fantasy novel star Justice is a space Opera haremlet and the way that Michael Scott Earle writes I'm sure it would be just as monumentally good but sadly audible will only let you listen to the first book Amazon won't let you buy any of the books and I'm pretty sure the book is no longer on Kindle at all.

Kinda lame

narrator was flat, no real inflection in his voice . While the story was interesting, the author apparantly wants to write pornos. while I'm no prude, by any means, I dont see how 20 minutes (multiple times) describing sex has anything to do with advancing the story. (They had sex, yay, now move the hell on).

uncomfortable sex with a too powerful protagonist.

While the characters that aren't the main character seem pretty real (aside from the women) the main character is more or less a god which removes much drama.
Also the enemies are stupid powerful just because.
Also, also the women in this book are totally written as characters just for the protagonist to swoon and sleep with. I thought to was gross and ended up skipping several sexual scenes.
I don't love the narrator either, he makes everything seems... weird.
Story is cool though.

could have been better

hard to get through. I think it was the narration. pretty mono tone and breathy with no difference between caricatures. made it very tough to fallow the story. though the story was good it did progress at its own pace. and obviously a series based book.

fun listen but...

this is a really interesting book and I'm going to get the rest of them. but damn, the sex scenes are weird. cutting off heads and killing elves then " my engorged penis exploded inside of her wet entrance. " that's not exact but pretty much. it's pretty metal but it just sounds so strange coming out of this dude's mouth.
