Stick with it, you won’t be disappointed

This whole book is action packed, but the first third was a bit much for me. Only one character, very little dialogue, just fighting and leveling up. That being said, the rest of the book is awesome. I’m glad I didn’t stop listening. This is a very well executed litrpg. It’s vibe is closest to “he who fights with monsters” or “codename freedom”.

long and satisfying

Zack grows in power at a steady stable rate no instant god mode or nothing he has to earn most of his power sure he starts off lucky but so do all litprg characters but the author strikes a good balance between luck and effort

Shoddy LitRPG

The MC has a level, rank/grade, class, rarity, attributes points, dao, cultivation, noble title and achievement titles to determine his arbitrary strength. There is even a town building system thrown in. The author has gathered every LitRPG system I can think of from this genre and blended them together with zero care or depth. I could go into detail about all the problems with the systems in this book but its just not worth untangling this mess. Eventually you will just lose interest because of how unreliable or unimportant most of the story is.

Solid Litrpg

Solid post apocalyptic/dystopia event litrpg/gamelit story. No Harem. No agenda. Just an MC with a bit of an advantage dumped into an uncaring world with might and magic. The book primarily focuses on character growth and completing quests. Later it gets a bit of town simulation but still sticks to its roots which can be defined as, Axeman vs World.. Yes he's a bit op but it's a fun little ride. I'll be buying the next one fore sure.

moronic mc

Once again the author makes the MCA moron so things can be explained also the author must think the readers are stupid as the author explains everything in excruciating detail Then add on top of that the MC is a Mega baby constantly complaining about everything think Stereotypical millennial

A Fantastic Start of a new Series!

JF Brink has crafted one of the best epic fantasy books that I've listened to in the past few years. There are many I've listened to that are extremely good, Cradle by Will Wight being very high on the list, as an example. However, At 23 and a half hours, this tome is on a level of Brandon Sanderson's The Way of Kings. Also, this being a litRPG genre, it is very hard to find a book that runs that length without a lot of exposition, repetitive filler sections and stat-bane poisoning. None of that exists here.

Furthermore, with almost 1200 titles under my belt, I have ended up finding that I have many authors on my "favorites" list and I find I am reluctant to take chances on new or unknown authors. I took a chance on this book because of the sample audio and what seemed like credible high reviews. I wasn't displeased and highly recommend it as being well worth the cost of a credit.

Pavi Proczko's performance was superb for this type of novel. His dispassionate approach to the narration is similar to Travis Baldree's, another fantastic narrator and as with Travis, I find myself picturing them reading books to their children or grandchildren, lighting a flame within to enjoy more books. It's a gift I am very envious of.

I did already read this when it was on royal road and couldn't put it down then either! I can't wait for people to see what's coming next. this is definitely one of my favorite litrpg/ cultivation stories for sure.

Gave up halfway through

This is a popular story, and I can see why, but I found it very boring.

The system is interesting enough, the story setup has promise, and then it just goes nowhere for seventeen hours. Guy is alone in forest, guy fights and levels up, repeat. No character interaction, no real characterization, just fighting and leveling.

If all you need is a sequence of fights in a moderately intriguing system apocalypse setup, this could be exactly what you're looking for. Personally, I prefer stories with a bit more depth and found the constant combat wearying.

Lucky

I feel lucky that I found this book but the mc is even more so. Just try the book. I believe the mc's growth as a person will start soon. He is taking in humans and I'm sure will be trying to find family.
