I want more!!

What made the experience of listening to Whiskey Witches Series: Books 0-4 the most enjoyable?

Never a dull moment, story keeps you wanting more. Narrator wants to pull you into the story.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Oh ya!!

Have you listened to any of Kalinda Little’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No she is awesome, at first I wasn't sure but once the story developed her voice told the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both laughed and cried, it was an emotional adventure.

Any additional comments?

I can't wait to see what comes next, there are many unfinished stories that would make for very interesting stories. Next generation stories as well. Very good book!

Whiskey witches 0-4

Enjoyed it immensely except for the narration. It got on my nerves. Way, way to much angst in her voice. I don’t mind some but she was over the top. The story hopped and skipped in places but I enjoyed it enough to put up with the narration

Couldn’t finish it

Couldn’t stay interested enough to finish it. Got to the 7th chapter and had to stop. The narrator ‘s voice was grinding on my nerves.

Just blah.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I don't know who would enjoy it more. It was really drawn out and just felt pointless. I'm returning it, because I just can't listen to it anymore. I didn't finish the book because I really just don't care what happens to any of the characters. They're just boring. I keep falling asleep trying to listen to it. The writing could be better, I felt like there were a lot of grammatical errors, which irritated me. There seem to be bits and pieces of several popular fantasy shows and movies all balled into one story.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'm not sure, hopefully something more interesting!

How could the performance have been better?

For one thing, it sounds like it was recorded in a tin can. Horrible sound quality. The narrator was different. One character who was supposed to be middle aged sounded like a 70 year old lady, the British accent was absolutely atrocious, and the narrator was overly enthusiastic the majority of the time.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Boredom. I literally cannot stay awake listening to this. The author failed to make me care about any of the characters or what happens to them.

Any additional comments?

I don't return books if I finish them. I didn't even make it half way through this one. Glad Audible allows returns!

Good listen

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Mostly good -getting through the first book isn’t easy as the narrator adopts a pretty strange voice, but the story is interesting and when you get to the next it becomes better

Who was your favorite character and why?

Tough to say but probably Dex - he becomes

Which scene was your favorite?

Gotta love her getting hers back

Could you see Whiskey Witches Series: Books 0-4 being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Oh jeez, really Christopher Walken is Sven, Scarlet Johansson or Kate Beckinsale as Paige, Chris Hemsworth as Dex

Whiskey Witches

Story was good, narrative was terrible. I can usually get through books, even with a not so good reader. I got through ONE book. No way could I get through 30 more hours. I'll look for the book in paperback.

update

Book 0: this has to be the worst narration I have ever heard. The narrator sounds like they're talking in a metal box. The accent doesn't fit what I could listen to of the story nor the characters. This may be a great story, but I have no idea because I couldn't get past the horrible narration. Now that I've wasted money buying the audio books, I'll have to go buy the print books if I want to know the story. Please, author, do yourself a favor and have this recorded again.

Book 1-4 First, the good stuff. The story is great! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the extras. Author, get off your former military ass and write some more for us! Now for the not great part. These books have much better sound quality but it still isn't great. The Texas accents and the Louisiana accents are so far off it's painful. When the author says someone's voice is soft and warm, the narrator is practically yelling. There just isn't any match between what the author has written and what the narrator does. There are several places where the narrator makes corrections but didn't delete the mistakes, leaving repeats sprinkled throughout. It's pretty obvious where the files end and begins because the sound quality is markedly different. Once I got used to the narrator, I was able to go back and cringe my way through the metal box read that was book 0. It was worth it.

TL;DR Great story, awesome extras, bad narration.

Hard to listen

The storyline is really interesting but the narrator is awful. And there are way too many editing errors. Very frustrating

Audible version is very disappointing

I was so distracted by the quality of the narration I was unable to concentrate on the story. It would have sounded better if it was recorded in a restroom. The hollow sound around the narrative was distracting. Then I tried to listen to the narrator. I’m a FREQUENT listener of audible books. I average approximately 5/week. I’m not a fan of this narrator. Her style is overly enthusiastic. The southern accents tended to be ethnic instead of southern. I really really tried to listen to this series. This is going to be a return.

awful recording

I can't comment on the book unfortunately because I could get past the tinny, phone booth style recording that hurt my ears. It sounded like the narrator has recorded this whilst sitting in a home study with a cheap microphone. I tried changing the speed to see if that would help but in the end I had to return it. I'm only writing this as a warning to listen carefully to the sample to see if you can hack it because I couldn't. I'm going to have to give the written books a try instead.
