Publisher's Summary

This Sky Brooks bundle includes books one through four.

Moon Tortured: The Midwest Pack has three goals: Protect the pack. Protect the pack. And yeah, protect the pack. I have my own goal: Live a simple life and hope no one ever discovers that the quiet young woman next door turns into a wolf.

Darkness Unchained: Just survive. That's been my goal since uncovering a dangerous secret: I died at birth and became host to a very powerful spirit shade. Now I have the rare ability to manipulate magic - an ability some would kill for.

Midnight Falls: My life will never be simple again. As a werewolf who is a host to a powerful spirit shade, I possess the ability to manipulate magic, among other things - and that means I have many enemies. In need of allies, I join the Midwest Pack.

Lunar Marked: The Midwest Pack used the Clostra to perform a powerful and dangerous spell to save me. Now the pack is dealing with the aftermath and doing damage control. But they can't hide how the magic has changed the dynamics of the otherworld - or that they are responsible.

Good Box Set - Slow Narrator

I first started listening Sky Brooks Books 1-4 with the narration by Jorjeana Marie about ready to turn it off because it was a very slow narration. The story was promising so I stuck with it and when I turn the narration speed to 1.2 it worked out great.
You find it slow when you start listening to it just up the narration speed and you’ll find it’s a really good box set in story

Blargs!

Admittedly, I have not finished the final book but I just couldn’t wait to review. Save your credit! I was excited about finally having a decent length listen... but oh do I regret that now. I have wanted to quit on this series 1,000 times, and if I weren’t so stubborn I would. These start out bad and instead of getting better, they stay bad! There is no good love interest- there are a few I guess but they all suck and you never feel it with any of them. Book two randomly starts using a two narrator structure, but without warning or clarity- so it is VERY confusing because the same narrator does both characters and she in no way attempts to change her voice. The narrator is not great either- she is very monotone and it’s hard to follow at times because she says everything the same way. Also means that “exciting” scenes feel the exact same as quiet ones. The story is also bad, it has moments where I think it’s getting somewhere - but then quickly gives that up for something else before exploring it and actually making us care. I’m in the final book, and I still couldn’t tell you what these books are really about, what the core of it is. Overall I would call this a skip. There are interesting aspects and it’s only one credit so I did buy it- but I also kind of hate listening to it Soo... you do you

The narrator almost ruined it all.

The story itself is written well. Thank goodness too! It was very hard to stay with the story, the narrator, in my opinion was slow and drawn out. Because of that I almost didn't give the story a chance. I am glad I made ît through the first 4 books. This helps me with my decision to finish the rest of the series. So if you can get through the first book you should be able to finish no matter who the narrator is! I really like the story line and am glad I stuck with it.

Not worth the single credit

The narrator over-enunciated and the delivery felt deliberately slow. I had to speed it up just to try and make listening tolerable. Unfortunately, I couldn't get into the story because she was very nasally, thus, every character sounded as if they had a stuffy nose.

Only 22 hours in

SPOILERS:

So: I’m 22 ours in- about 30 left to go. I really like the world of the story. I really like the attributes of the characters that make them unique from one another. Overall so far- in general it’s an interesting read.
My one major problem which is why I’m writing a review only 22 hours in is that I feel like Skye has no passion or personality. I don’t think it’s just the way the narrator chose to deliver the lines. Example of a situation: Ethan kisses Skye.
Skye: hm.
Skye walks in on Ethan and Chris doing the dirty.
Skye: I observed this situation. Anyway here are my observations on this other situation.

It feels so robotic. It is absolutely possible to have a kick ass female lead character without her fawning all over the guy character or dramatizing every romantic situation. Her reactions just don’t feel genuine. Even if she isn’t a dramatic or grudge holding person, I expected more of a reaction to her walking in on Chris and Ethan together as slightly more. Or rather I guess, I’d have enjoyed it if we got to see her reaction, process her feelings, compartmentalize, then go kick ass. Take us on that journey of emotion with you.
Having no opinion at all just took my interest in the character away a bit.

That’s all; I’ll edit this review if it gets better as I listen!

not 1 character is remotely likable..

I gave it 2 books just in case... the plot is a hair above pointless. the final fight at the end of both books were anticlimactic. there was literally no one to root for!I kept finding myself saying "useless just useless" whenever the MC started to show a hint of evolving into anything other than a complete burden to everyone else but then she would just get smacked around then have pity party then nothing... then it was on to the next useless scene.

unless the whole series was meant to be one long ass novel there is no point or structure to what goes on in the story! ugggh I want my time and credit back!

Okay Story Horrible Treatment

I stopped at the beginning of book 3. The way the MC is treated like an ignorant child just got on my nerves and I couldn't keep listening because it just got worse as the books went on.

Absolutely unreadable. Had to give up.

1) Narrator is fantastic, but there is only so much she can do with such sloppy writing.
2) the combat scenes are so ridiculous that I simply cannot suspend my disbelief. It was the scene behind Sky’s house with Mikayla that was the last straw.
3) The main character is simply too inconsistent with just about every thing she does or says.
4) there is no transition to most scenes. No transition between when one character speaks at the end of one scene with no clear ending, and the next when a different character speaks. Or when the characters move from one location to the next with no warning. The narration begins again with no hint about what is going on, who is talking, or where they are. There is a whole lot of guess work needed by the reader. This left me confused and frustrated.

Not My Cup of Tea

Honestly, just my cup of tea. I has about to get through two of the books but can't go any further. Performance wasn't too bad. Wish I could return but too late now.

Excellent story but

Really enjoyed this book series. Enjoyable story slightly ruined by the voice actor/sound engineer. The narrator sounds as if she has a peg on her nose through out the series. It's hard to ignore the nasal tones unfortunately.

Not bad at all... Definately need to read the rest

I actually love Skylar, she's such a rebel and makes my laugh out loud sometimes... Good story lines to be fair not bad at all, very good details so length has not been rushed, feel most stories are rushed by authors and very short or not detailed enough to get into the stories these are a great long detailed length. And the narrator is great to listen to and enjoyed her voices. Very happy so far and can't wait to hear the last 3 books 😊

Heroine or dumb girl that should be killed off?

I'm sorry but this chick has to be the dumbest chick there is in the whole story. It actually takes her 3 books or years before she actually says oh maybe I should ask one of the pack to help me learn how to defend myself. It isn't til book 4 till she starts to fight back. I don't believe she didn't know she had 3 guys wanting her. Them kissing her should be a heads up at very least. Of course she picks the one that's the most disfunctional. What surprises me is that she can't even tell she has the exact relationship with him as he had with his ex. She's half wolf. Ok, I get that she doesn't want that to be apart of who she is. But considering she needs to change and use her wolf side. You would think that by book 2 she would make friends with it. but no. Maybe in book 5. I don't like the fact that for most of the fights she seems to just stand there and watches til book 4. Which is 4 years after she met the pack. Like seriously? your half wolf, you have magic and your friends are getting bashed and your just looking at them fight? I can see why they don't like her. I can't see me sitting through any more books in this series. I would have stopped at book 1 if this wasn't a 4 books on one. I honestly don't recommend this book. The only way the heroine has stayed alive is because she has alot of body gaurds. For the star of the series she's to stupid and completely useless. And she thinks she has a right to be sarcastic. I would have let her die.

On a side note, the reader was okay at reading the story.
