Very immature even for YA

I’m not even finished with this book and I purchased it not expecting a whole lot but this was written so immaturely! It’s like the actions of the main character are so far from what a normal 17 year old would do. Also she is written like how a little girl would act. I’m disappointed so far in this book. I bought this for a easy listen in the background while I do other things but I became so annoyed by the narrator I had to eventually turn it off before I finished. I’m a huge fan of paranormal/urban fantasy/ romance and YA and that’s all I listen to, this was the first book I’ve stopped listening to before it finished. Just a warning for anyone looking for another good YA/paranormal romance THIS IS WRITTEN FOR 6ths graders not actual 18 year olds.

Left with wish for more detailed ending

I'm not going to do a full review as I do not have time to do so. My attention was caught in book one, book two started to lose my attention some with a huge descent going onward. I always try to force myself to read/listen to entirety of books because often you lose interest only to later be captured and sometimes more so than before. This was the case only slightly at times and for brief periods. I kept waiting to get dragged back into it but that never came. I was dreading the time to finish it and often fell asleep having had 2+ hours gone by then having to try to find where I left off. The ending was very disappointing for me. I had a hard time going from a major part of this book the the extremely brief ending. There should have at least been a short portion speaking about how she learned the ropes of taking over and how she became close to her mother and speaking of parents last we heard was Raphael ran off, where did he end up? He didn't abandon his daughter out of hate or having not loved her. Too many questions were left at the end of this book. I did not like it at all, it actually made me mad.. I did not feel closure at the end. The narrator did well, it was the story itself

Save your credits!

This book is like bad fan fiction of Twilight.

I love YA books but this one was written, as another reviewer wrote, “immaturely”. The vocabulary was very basic. The plot was generic. The narration was weak.

Actually, the narrators voice ended up being the straw that broke the camels back. I returned the book. I couldn’t finish it.

Busy signal

The books are good. The narrator didn’t set well with me. Too slow. My major complaint is that I kept hearing a busy signal and missing two or three words each time. It was very disappointing!

Needs a new narrator

The story is actually pretty good, a little predictable at time but still good. The narrator on the other hand is terrible.

not worth it for me

I didn't end up liking this one, I think maybe it was the reader's voice or maybe the story line.

Narrator is terrible, story is so so, performance is bad

The narrator is terrible. Almost made me hate the book (series), but luckily for the author, the story is interesting. However, the speech of the characters is too formal and awkward. People don't speak to one another like that, at least not Nora. One could make a case for the eldest of the characters, bit Nora is supposed to be a teenage girl. Teenagers do not speak in that way. Also, the constant repeating of what one character says then phrased as a question by another character gets really annoying after a while. Every statement turns into a clarifying question. Also, there is not enough character development of Nora herself or between her and Hunter. Moreover, the fact that Nora barely even touches on the loss of her life and family is not very believable. Nor is there any anger towards Hunter for doing something forbidden that put her life in danger to begin with. Most of the story development is poor. It kind of feels all over the place. I'm on the third book and only keep listening because I'm in Quentin's and literally have nothing else to do with my time. But I'm bored out of my mind and annoyed by the narration. The narrator makes the characters sound whiney and stuttering idiots. She truly does a disservice to the story. The narrator totally does not understand the characters or their motivations and cannot properly convey their personalities or their moods/intentions appropriately. They end up sounding sniveling and weak. And why the narrator strangers all the characters' lines all the time I do not understand. This narrator needs a class in characterization. She uses about 3 different voice types only: uncertain, annoying, and old (sounding).

ridiculously anti-climactic story

you keep listening expecting some sort of a build up but no. its same old story throughout the whole book with a girl wallowing in self pity through it all... youd expect some sort of a twist... oh yea.. there is one at the end but its so cliche and meaningless that it seems as if it was thrown in as an after-thought.

Had so much promise

Complete waste of time the authors used the first 3 books to paint a very detailed vision then completely through out everything in the last few chapters. The last book was a huge letdown to an otherwise intriguing story. I would compare it to how I met your mother if I'd watched the last episode of that show I never would have bothered watching it at all.

Not really sure where to start

So this will be my first ever audible review, I’m finding it hard to grasp the correct words for these books. To start the story line did have promise and with a bit of work could create a great series but the narration was terrible and Nora was terribly written. I don’t know how many times I sat back and sighed at her responses. Hunter might do something completely despicable and she’s like oh cool I still love you, it’s not a big deal. Or Hunter ruins her life after she’s known him two minutes and she’s like ooo I’ll run away with you let’s go. This really ruined the series for me, I’m pretty sure you could stab Nora 1000 times and she’ll completely accept you fell and did it by accident *sigh*

great book

Spoilers Alert.
Although I loved the book I was a little disappointed in the ending. it would have been nice to follow Nora's and Hunters life after prophecy was fulfilled and Nora's journey of becoming a succubus. also was disappointed that hunter had to take one if her stars to survive resulting in Nora only being able to live on the dream realm. but all in all great book.

the story has potential

I've enjoyed the narrative , but the main character is a bit repetitive and could have been a little bit more developed. the book has a nice ending, I would have liked to have a bit more detail.

definitely written for a younger audience

I usually love young adult fiction but this one I struggled to finish. I found the main character extremely childish and short sited though the story line itself wasn't to bad. some things were drawn out while others weren't given enough explanation but I would read the next book in this series if there is one.
