The first arc in Morgan's Rise to Omniscience. Over 650,000 words in one convenient box set!

This set contains books 1-5 of Rise to Omniscience, as well as the audio exclusive short story, "Beast Zone".

Morgan's life is not easy.

Growing up on the streets of City Four, he is constantly shunned by the other citizens. Morgan doesn't mind being ignored. What he does mind, though, are the constant beatings from the city guards due to his friendship with Sarah, the city lord's only daughter.

Lord Simon wants him dead, but the laws of the kingdom are on Morgan’s side, and even the guards won't kill him just for being seen near his manor. Morgan’s time is running out, though. Lord Simon has deep pockets, and his last visit to the manor may just have put him over the edge. Worse, he is nearing his 16th birthday, and has yet to awaken any abilities. In a world where might makes right, he has never been one of the mighty. What will he do when faced with a life-altering decision, and just how will his decision impact those around him?

Warning: This book contains some profanity, gore, and content that may not be suitable for children. This book also contains GameLit elements such as stat sheets and a form of leveling and experience gain.

The book has a fairly good storyline, decent plots. It kind of drags at times but since it has so many books in a collection it’s nice to have a good long listen if you go through a lot of books like I do. So it’s well worth the credit if you use them, not sure what the price would be, but I wouldn’t spend more than $15 on it. I wouldn’t call it one of my top 20 books, but I listen to books a lot so getting one that is worth listening too and not having to wait for the next book to come out or having to use a bunch of credits up for a series is nice.

Decent, long. Good for the credit

overall great in book one and two. starts getting g worse as it goes but good enough to not hate that Im listening to this. if separate books I'd checked out after three.... good deal as a set buy

suffers from the scaling up of power

First things first, the Narrator. His general voice wasn't bad, and his cadence is fine, but I'm not entirely sure he reads the material before just saying what's on the page. The way he delivers Morgan's lines is jarring and doesn't fit the character or the situation. He comes across as.... peppy? Morgan is meant to have a deadpan, emotionless way of speaking, but the narrator continuously speaks as though he's a kid piping up in class to answer a question. That alone almost drove me off at first. Everything else about the narrator was.... uninspiring. From villain dialogue, to monstrous voices, it all sounded very amateur, like he never heard himself deliver the lines and didn't work to correct the way he sounds.

Second, the story. It has some good moments, then it has some very very bad moments. Like "why did you have this big emotional scene just for it to mean nothing" moments. I.e. Gold and Samuel's last conversation, Catherine's mishap with Gold, and Sara at the end of book 5. I'm not getting into the shipping wars, but Sara is legitimately the worst character in the book. At least the others have some amount of depth, but she is shallow and pointless as a character, much less a female lead. Yet the author (both of them?) still does what he does at the end rather than letting it be a growth moment for Morgan, who desperately needs growth. Instead, it's done in the least satisfying way. If I hadn't already bought books 6-10 I'd honestly drop the series here.

2.5/5
It's okay. Obvious Hollow Ichigo moments are obvious, but it's still fun to see an mc go berserk.

Glad I bought it when I did.

Ahhhhhh I needed that. Thanks for the filling 5 course meal of LitRPG. Heavy on the Lit and just a dulap of RPG stats talk.

Enjoyed this great value read

The story was engaging. The reader performed Gold perfectly along with a few others. the rest however sounded extremely similar.

neat

tried another 5 boom story leveling up the world I think. Didn't like it to much just long boring and no character development especially the Mc. this book though has some dry points but man does it make up for it, with the constant fights. Great MC with a even greater support characters!!! I genuinely love these books and can't wait to read books 6-11

Great Mc!

Interesting characters and world building. Amazing value for your credit. I loved it, I think you will too.

Great read! Better value

the book might be better if not the narrator. I guess it could of been worse, not like mc was a killing machine right from the start with no training and automatically knowing how to use abilities. oh wait he did

horrible narrator
