From the inside flap of book one:

In the city of Solantha, mages rule absolute, with shifters considered second-class citizens and humans something in between. No one outside the mage families are allowed to have magic, and anyone born with it must agree to have it stripped from them to avoid execution.

Sunaya Baine, a shifter-mage hybrid, has managed to keep her unruly magic under wraps for the last twenty-four years. But while chasing down a shifter-hunting serial killer, she accidentally loses control of her magic in front of witnesses, drawing the attention of the dangerous and enigmatic Chief Mage.

Locked up in the Chief Mage’s castle and reduced to little more than a lab rat, Sunaya resists his attempts to analyze and control her at every turn. But she soon realizes that to regain her freedom and catch the killer, she must overcome her hatred of mages and win the most powerful mage of all to her side.

Not bad

I enjoyed the first 3 books. Main characters are interesting with good development. With book 4 the storyline starts to fizzle. As this happens the sex scenes increase. I got the feeling the author used thr sex to for word count. It became hard to finish the books. In addition to increased sex, our main character seems to have things handed too her. So unlike first books where she had to do some work. I should've stopped at book 3. The reader was very good. That motivated me to continue skipping the sex. It's distressing that editors are encouraging erotica more and more.

Childish trash

Sunaya Baine is a childish spoiled can do no wrong brat. She's obnoxious, hypocritical, droll, whiny, arrogant and plain dumb. I only managed to finish this trash because of other characters, yet I found myself unable to understand why they wanted to put up with this annoying twat of a girl. Iannes deserved better, as someone whos over 1000 years old he should have known better. Although in the entire book the only reason he says he loves her is because of her passion HA. Drivel. Jasmine Walt needs a better hobby.

Super GREAT series!

I enjoyed this series very much. I am not really a prudish old lady, but I think just a little too much time spent with sex and swearing which stopped me from buying for my young teenage grandsons.

The first 7 were GREAT

I can’t believe I read this entire series rather quickly.
The first 7 books in the series were well written and evenly paced. Did they contain s Loy of fillet and quite a bit of Sunaya whining? Of course, but that’s expected in a series that spans 8 books and two separate dnd complete spin offs gesturing fan favorite characters.
Now....book 8 we really could’ve gone without. It felt like it was a conclusion for everyone and everything at the same time they thru Annia in there at the very end and to be quite honest, I had forgotten about her character leaving to head out during book 7’s earthquake aftermath. You would think wrapping up everyone’s stories and reminding readers that Annia has a story too would be well and good. It really wasn’t. We technically didn’t learn much about Innis as a whole, did we? The trials set up by her grandmother-in-law didn’t add anything to anything either.
Despite it all, I wish we learned what exactly was Trouble’s limitation...

I didn't realize who narrated this :(

I can't listen to this narrator. Unfortunately I didn't catch it until I started listening. I have no idea if the story is/isn't good because I can't listen to her!

This is my second time reading this portion of this series. I enjoyed it both times. I wish the other books in this series were available in the Audible library.

Terrible naration but the story is good

Jasmin Walt read this book so rapidly that it makes it very uncomfortable to listen to. I tried at a lower speed and it just sounds like she is very depressed and on mogadon. The story drags along. It may get better but I just can't bear to listen any longer.

Having revisited this book (desperate on a long journey) I found I really got into the story and the world that it portrayed, yes I found the narration annoying especially the way she adds an 'a' to the end of a lot of words but once I got past that it was rather fun with an interesting world of magic and shifters. It is also very good value considering it is 48 hours long. I just wish they would re-record it with someone else............

Loved this story.

The world you created was fresh and believable. The characters lived, learned and created a narrative that was addictive. Thank you for combining all the books into one download. It made listening so effortless. Going hunting for more of your books.

Great series but...

This is a great series but the narrator is probably the worst I've come across.
Read it instead, like i did.
