Publisher's summary

Making a place for yourself in a world where you don’t belong takes courage. So does moving in with a warlock. Especially one who is a cauldron of seething anger on his worst days…half-mad on his best…who is thinking, perhaps, of killing you. And you can almost understand why he would do it. But you’ll fight to stay alive. Because maybe…just maybe…you’ve found the place where you belong: On his world, in his magic, saving the warlock from himself.

Waterspell, in four books, tells the story of the lost traveler, Carin, who is drawn into the schemes of a hot-tempered, emotionally damaged wizard. Does he view her as nothing more than an expendable weapon in his fight to save his world from lethal alien plagues? Or will Lord Verek find himself wavering when it comes time to dispose of his fiery water-sylph?

From the Publisher

Waterspell springs from the realm of high fantasy (with an eco-fantasy twist). It’s got ancient and mysterious magic, a passage from one world to the otherworld, a (reluctant) Chosen One, a Hero/Heroine’s Quest, and a search for belonging and redemption. It’s a portal fantasy with complex characters and gothic sensibilities. There’s mystery, murder, and a little slow-burning, unconventional romance. Think "Jane Eyre meets a sorcerer".

Fast Pasted Tale Kept Me Riveted

I got hooked. I listened to it at home, instead of in the car as intended, for about 4 days. I just sat and listened! I was sad to have it end. I hope there are more stories like this from the author.

The best book I've listened to in ages

I've listened to a lot of Audible books and this was so well written I was unable to stop listening. She rounds out the ending better than any other book I've read or heard. I highly recommend.

Great Listen!

Listening to this book has been great. The story has twists and turns, it flows well and
is neither too fast or too slow. The narrator is very real conveying anger as well as softness and intrigue.
This is the type of audio book you can listen to for hours and not get tired of.

Captivating story and enchanting narration

This story has such wonderful character, scene, and story development. I loved going along for the journey with the characters. I've read the books and am thoroughly enjoying the audio book.
The magical voice of the narrator makes the already great story even better, a whole new experience! Great read, highly recommend!

be warned

Decent book. Certainly worth 1 credit.
What is this horrific pattern of female authors making main or sub main antogonists hateful beyond belief? Would be 2x as enjoyable if antagonist just stoic and not absurdly hateful as to not allow one to enjoy the main story!

Forced to skip through many partial chapters due to absurd illogical hateful antagonist...hes so incredibly unrealistically mean its oft unbearable unless you enjoy cruel/mean behavior. Lancer is even less realistic but more tolerable given hes a lessr character. That said if he were a real human his iq would b roughly 80...which is not viable. he is too dumb to be real. he keeps trying to kill main character but his boss barely rebukes him...barely cares?

Antagonist (man) beats main character (girl) and other regular physicsl abuse...put magical leg irons on her that nearly cut her foot off and has been beyond cruel in almost every conversation with her through multiple books. Yet shes clearly gonna sleep w him by the end...has alrdy kissed him. Womens minds....oft more twisted than mens...which is really sayin smthn! Author is poingnant example. Disturbing.

25 hrs in...not sure im gonna make it.

world/overarching story 8/10
character interaction/interpersonal dialogue 3.5/10

Great story telling from the voice actor. Very typical storyline

Started out Interesting and with a new take on magic but the heroines woes and character development was very lacking and stereotypical.
