Some Good Tips

There were some good tips included. It was hard to get through the first two or three chapters since so much was what has been said over and over in so many other books of this type. The narration was calming and there were several tips that are usable. I will revisit it several times as I complete my yearly program as directed in the story.

Fantastic!

I am so glad I listened to this book! I've been struggling a bit lately with trying to stay on track with my fitness goals.This book has motivated me to get back at it. There is a lot of really helpful information and I actually plan on listening to this one again anytime I need a bit of motivation! Highly recommend!

Just in time for the new year!

This book is great for anyone looking to start a healthy lifestyle. It has great tips and plans to help you change and stick with it. My mom and I are going to try it together after the holidays. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

Helpful book to get fit/healthy with

This book has helpful tips and good motivation to get and stay healthy. It has an online address provided by the author also. This is very helpful to stay on track. I plan on listening to this again after the holidays to start on my own healthy journey. I was provided this for free for an honest review.

25 steps towards a better health

James and Matt get it right again on this book!
Talking a simple language and aiming at small and achievable goals, the book is a hidden gem to set off the inner athlete you might have in you. If there was a little less marketing about James other books, this book would be an easy 5 stars with no questions asked!

Tips to change your habits...

I absolutely love how the author shares his own experiences when providing his tips on health and fitness. I plan on listening to this book whenever I need a little boost to get myself back on track!

I loved it!!

I've read a lot of diet and fitness books, and, honestly didn't expect much. I was happily wrong! This book talks about the aspects of health and fitness no one talks about - how hard it is, and what it takes to do it anyway! This is more than just a list of tips - it's a program (a habit stack) that I can't wait to try!
The narration was excellent as well.

No quick fixes, but a full year of plans and tips

James Atkinson uses this book to set out a "whole year plan" to help someone get fit. There is no "quick way" presented here. The bulk of the book is made up of 25 hints/tips/rules to get fit. It is a 50 week plan, as you add something in each fortnight, building on the previous ones. So every two weeks you add in the next step/tip/plan item to your routine. It is made to take time, but do also help you build into it and get it to be a lifestyle, not a quick win.

Atkinson provides his bona fides, with his history of being a personal trainer and his work in the industry. He comes across as well informed and level headed, providing good, clear, systematic advice. The advice given is useful and taylorable - is is aware of different lifestyles and availability of services and equipment, and provides hints for getting around that. It is not a one size fits all. He opens the book with some safety and health advice, so that you do not push yourself and hurt yourself. The writing and presentation give me confidence that the advice and hints given here come from experience, with an eye for longevity, and not someone trying to make a quick buck with a 'how to lose x in x days" approach.

Because this is a year long plan, I can see myself revisiting this book several times. Maybe for this a written copy, rather than audiobook, would be more appropriate. Atkin's does provide downloadable resources from his website, mentioned in the book - jims health and muscle dot com.

Narration by Matt Addis is good. Clear and easy to follow, well paced and generally enjoyable. Atkinson has a dry sense of humour in the book, and the British accent of Addis fits well with this.

Worth listening, and worth revisiting.

Very disappointing

Would you try another book written by James Atkinson or narrated by Matt Addis?

No. Matt Addis does a good job narrating but the content is not what I expected.

What could James Atkinson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

In short- get to the point! I found this book to be infuriating in that there is an enormous amount of introduction, an repetition in the first few chapters. Information that could be incorporated into the core of the book was laboured at the start. There are supposedly 25 tips- this fact is mentioned four times in the first few chapters but I never got to those 25 facts because I just got bored of the inane waffle that preceded those tips. Laboured unnecessary information that could have been condensed into one chapter was stretched out over several.

What three words best describe Matt Addis’s voice?

Clear, consistent , professional.

Author should be more aware that readers/listeners want actionable information not a load of filler before that.

Great book, very inspirational

Very impressed with this book, I'm a fit chap because I do a hard physical job for a living but have always dived in and out of exercising to increase fitness even further. This book has given me motivation and ideas of how to put a proper plan in place to maintain fitness as a lifestyle

Really good

Great jump start motivation for people looking to change their lifestyle or start a beginners fitness regime. Answers the 'Why?'s that you may have for each tip given. I truly enjoyed and speaker was very engaging.

Fantastic

Another fantastic, informative and inspirational book by James Atkinson. Even though ive been training for over 20 years i still found this book a great source of sound and solid advice. Yet again James has given me a butt kicking and am back onto a route again. Well worth it!!

This book is purely opinion. It won’t help better educate you. There’s no evidence based facts, no in depth education.

Excellent balanced health and well-being

Presents excellent habit stacking approach to health and well-being. Provides well balanced approach covering Mindset, Diet and a variety of exercise. Really explains the Why and How well.

Great Book

This book is great. A sense of humour. Great advise. Well read and easy to listen too. I really liked how it was quite a personal book with personal examples. Will definitely look up his other books and check our his website
