Not your typical shifter story something new !

I was given this book for my unbiased opinion and all I can say is great and famtastic. This book has a different story line than what I am used to when it comes to shifter romance. The book was well written and the narration was fantastic. I like the animal spirit approach it made the storyline much deeper. I also liked the fear of the animal spirit which was much different. The rat was a little weird but it wasn't out of place in the book. Oversll this is wonderful choice if you are looking for an out of the box approach to shifter romance.

Unique Shifter Romance

The story is quite different from other shifter romances. It was unusual to think of the animal side as a spirit instead of a generic make up.

Malinda was looking for a job and ended up at a mansion to apply for a nanny position. She bonded with the ten year old boy quickly and was hired. Little did she know that there were a lot of crazy things going on that mansion.

Garrett hires Malinda after watching the way she interacts with his son. Unfortunately, Malinda takes his son to the park and Garrett goes ballistic. It is odd not to let the boy leave the house. He is hiding secrets but it's not what it seems.

There is drama, suspense, action, and romance. It is an interesting story with a few twists and turns.

The narrator did a great job bringing the story to life.

Decent Plot and Shifter World!

The BillionWere was a decent story with a solid plot, action, and some steamy romance. However, I had a hard time connecting to the characters and really only liked Garrett's character. Malinda's character never grew on me and she kept making stupid mistakes.

Overall, this story was ok but not one I would listen to again. However, in the future, if I notice any of Ellie Valentina's other books coming out in audio, I will strongly consider listening to them, especially if I am able to take advantage of the Kindle Unlimited and whispersync the story. (I've already listened to The Alpha's Unwanted Mate and really enjoyed that story.)

Also, I like this was a complete story with no cliffhangers, and at a little over six hours long, the story could easily be listened to in one day.

As usual, Addison Spear does a great job narrating, and I like how she portrays strong female characters.

**Some Spoilers**
In a world where animal spirits merge with random humans to create "shifters," Garrett a billionaire shifter and a single father, hires Malinda Rose to be a live-in nanny for his son Brandon. There is an immediate attractions between Garrett and Malinda but more importantly Brandon likes Malinda and she makes a great nanny for him. Because Garrett harbors life threatening secret's, he must ensure his son is protected at all times and Brandon is never allowed to leave the safety of the mansion.

Malinda slowly learns of Garrett's closely guarded secretes when a werewolf is spotted several times on the mansion's grounds and one of his employee's is suspected of being killed by this werewolf. As things between Garrett and Malinda heat up, she starts to suspect he's the werewolf, until he actually saves her and Brandon from being attacked by this werewolf. Due to the increased confrontations with the werewolf, Garrett eventually confidences in Malinda and tells her the story of the wolves who tried to kill him. During this attack on his life, he defended himself, and as a result, one of the wolves was killed in the process. Now, a lone wolf is out for revenge and will stop at nothing until Garrett loses everything.

In addition to the werewolf attacks, there is a also a trader in Garrett's trusted employment that is out to harm Malinda. With threats coming from different directions, Malinda will have to find her inter strength to fight back and defend herself and help keep Brandon safe.

Nosey Heroine but Enjoyable Hero

I'll give credit where credit is due - I really had no idea where this story was going. An atypical paranormal shifter romance complete with a naive, all too understanding and nosey heroine paired with an alpha, bad tempered and mysterious shifter.

The unique twist on the shifter mythology was a refreshing and intriguing one and definitely scored bonus points. It is not common that I find different takes on the shifter myths and when I do, I greatly appreciate them. The hero and the heroine were not two people I would ever picture together and honestly I was a bit surprised that they would even want to be together. To be honest, I did not like the heroine at all. She was way too nosey for her own good and quite frankly she seemed like an idiot. Garret was your typical alpha male who had a deep secret. What was new and interesting was that he was truly afraid of his shifter "gift." Most of the shifter romances involves the shifter embracing their shift but with Garret, he truly feared it.

This was a complete books with no cliffhangers and in interesting plot. It did have the typical lull in the middle but it still continued at a steady pace allowing a listener to easily complete the book in one sitting. While I am unsure if I would listen to this book again (the heroine really killed me sometimes) I would have no problem looking into some of the authors other works.

Am I credit worthy? Maybe. I honestly think the narrator might have been the reason I disliked the heroine (if you notice I keep saying heroine because I actually forgot her name...) the narration of her voice was so whiny and sounded clueless that it was hard to not laugh outright.

Unique Take on Shifters

Where does The BillionWere rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have listened to hundreds of audiobooks and i'm sure that includes hundreds of paranormal books. Although the book was a good quick listen I wouldn't rank it in the top 10 paranormal books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Young Master Brandon was my favorite character. Even though he was a young boy he was stronger and braver then his dad gave him credit for.

What about Addison Spear’s performance did you like?

I had no problem with the narrator and think she did a fine job.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Don't want to give anything away but there were a few scenes in the book that I didn't see coming.

Any additional comments?

Great Book!

Any additional comments?

This is a great book written by Ellie Valentina and narrated by Addison Spear. This book can be listened to in one sitting if you have the time, once I started listening to it I didn’t want to put it down until the end. Malinda Rose accepted a job as a live-in nanny at a plush mansion in Manhattan, it sounded easy. Room, board, and a nice paycheck; however, she really had no idea what she was getting herself into.... The owner of the mansion is reclusive billionaire Garrett Millieur, a man who surprises her with his youthful good looks and attractively authoritative nature. Amongst other things, he makes an odd request, that his son Brandon must never leave the mansion. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. This was such a great read and full of surprises.
The narrator Addison Spear did a great job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to in one sitting. I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.
If you are looking for a great book with great characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

A Good Quick Listen

Although Malinda is the true star of this book I loved the son Brandon's role. I think the author did justice with the villians in the story as well. Malinda's reaction to what Garret is seems to be contridictory. She is an up in your face protector of Brandan then is turned into a scared chicken during one of the chase scenes. Her character was wishy washy to say the least. She was a spitfire to her boss all the while she was wondering what was she thinking to talk to him like that.
Garret was a little unbelieveable as well. I am glad that everything came out well in the end. I did like listening to the story. The narrator made the story come alive.

I was given this book by Audiobookblast for an honest review.

Quick and Satisfying!

This is one of those books where you just can't stop listening. The next thing you know it, you've listened to the whole book!

I expected this book to be a fun paranormal romance, so I wasn't looking for literacy award worthy writing. However, the writing style was fine, and the narration was well done. There was some mystery and more than enough sex scenes to satisfy my guilty pleasures. This was a new version of werewolf "rules," which made the story very fresh and interesting.
