Publisher's Summary

An Irish mobster. A missing friend. Two loyalties, ripping me apart.

I had a plan.

Get in, get my information, and get out. Easy, right?

Turns out, infiltrating the Irish mafia isn't exactly what I thought it would be. I just wanted a soldier. Someone I could flirt with to get me in the door.

That's when Lachlan Crow noticed me. Problem was, he wasn't a soldier. No, he was next in line for the throne of the Irish underworld. And he was determined to hate me from the outset. My sob story about needing a job? Yeah, he wasn't buying that either.

Too bad for him, I won't let anyone get in the way of my mission.

Who cares if we have some kind of crazy chemistry? He's the worst kind of wrong - and I would never in a million years be with a guy like him.

Because they took her from me, and I'm going to make them pay.

Love....Against All Odds. 💕

This book has so much going for it.....an interesting deep plot, likable characters, bad guys, action, suspense, love, and mystery. It's the kind of book that keeps you on the edge. You never know what to expect. It's a true "escape". The kind of story that you know would never be personally real but you enjoy the diversion. 😀 Loved the ending. 💑

I liked this book but call me a romantic....because I still enjoy stories that have more romance than sex. I know...I know...you're going to say "but this is a Mob story"....yes, I guess I would expect some sex, but when there is so much explicit sex in a book it can take away a lot of the sensual build up....the anticipation. But...even still, this is a well written story filled with suspense and the rawness of gangsters 😬.

The narration was perfect. Each voice was unique and the accents were quite good. Doesn't get much better. Great job! 🐾

(Note: This book has explicit sex and strong language. Adults only recommended)

An Edgy, Intense, Gripping Five Star Romance!

Wow, I loved this story, and have so many great things to say about Crow which was written by A. Zavarelli and narrated by Tracy Marks. This story deserves all Five Stars, and if it was possible to give more stars, I would.

~ Crow has an edgy and intense plot told from both Mac and Lachlan's POV's. The story moves at a great pace, and has all kinds of twists. Mac goes in "unofficially" uncover to get information about her missing friend where she meets one of the leaders Crow Lachlan; however, she soon learns once you enter the mafia, you do not leave unless you go out in a body bag or if they will allow it.

~ The attractions between Lachlan and Mac was immediate, raw, intense, and they were drawn to each other like a moth to a flame. Regardless of the secretes or mistrust between them, the sex scenes were primal, raw, and full of need. Lachlan dominated while Mac wanted to please.

~ I could feel my anxiety building waiting for the moment when Lachlan learns of Mac's betray, and really wanted to take few breaks throughout the story from all the intensity but was helpless and had to keep listening.

~ There is great character development throughout the story, and you got to know some of the characters and what they have been through.

~ The narrations by Tracy Marks is remarkable, and you could tell she put a lot of effort into narrating this story. I loved the accents and how each character had their own voice. She did a great job of projecting the different emotions throughout the story.

I've never been big fan of contemporary romances; however, this story was amazing, really held my attention, and could just possibly sway to the contemporary side. I highly recommend this story to fan of contemporary stories and likes them slightly on the darker side or with a mafia themes. Well worth my time! :-).

4 Crowtastic Star’s

First wow on the narration blew me away. I am a HUGE sucker for accents. (Hey I am Canadian what can I say) I don’t know how Tracy Marks did it but I could have sworn Lachlan was really talking in the Irish lilt!

Duel POV’s was awesome for this book, you really got to know each character and their struggles with their feelings toward each other and the situations they are in.

Mack is concerned for her friend, and the police have done all they can do. But Mack can’t take that as being it. She knows something is wrong even after a year. So she takes matters in to her own hands.

She needs to get Intel, and the only way to do that is to put herself in the path of Lachlan. He’s an Irish mobster. Get in and get out, only it’s never that easy esp. when those pesky feelings come into play.

This was a wild ride; I did find some parts to drag just a little too much. And I can’t believe I am going to say this, but even some of the sexy times just felt forces to be there not authentic. I know, what am I saying.

But overall I enjoyed the heck out of this book, and will even recommend it. The suspense and what’s going to happen next really grabs you and won’t let you go. Oh did I say Irish accent because Hello IRISH ACCENT :D

This Will Burn So Good

So hot, it might burn! The Boston Underground is a steamy, sexy and dark mafia romance series that makes bad guys seem almost good... or at least, incredibly alpha males that will make you swoon. Oh, and definitely listen to this series - the narrators are amazing and enhance the story.

Dark and Mysterious

Not typically a fan of dark romance, I find myself pleasantly surprised by this first book in the Boston Underworld series.

I will admit that it took me a little longer to get invested into the story, but in the end, I didn't want to reach the conclusion. Luckily for me, the series continues.

Tracy Marks is surprising as the narrator. She is able to fully convince me with her male character's. And her accents are fascinating and I believe spot on.

Great Book, AWESOME Narration!

This book was hard to rate because I loved so much of it but In between that I found it dragged a little too. It wasn't a lot but there were a few parts in the beginning that I wondered if it was going to pick up and go anywhere. There we also a few "out there" things that I just couldn't find believable. In the end I decided I enjoyed all the other stuff so much more than I disliked those few little things. This book has it all from danger to love and a super hot sexy couple with secrets! The narrator Tracy Marks was great, I love her voice and enjoyed her accents in this book.

Wow!!! Just Amazing! One Of The Best!

This audiobook truly deserves over 5 stars! The author created an amazing story! I could not put it down. I was on the edge of my seat and what an amazing Rollercoaster ride it was! I was supposed to go to bed early last night! So much for that!

It has everything I look for in a book: action, danger, intrigue, suspense, drama, and romance! It is written in a Dual POV which I prefer. To top it off it also has A HEA ending! I'm looking forward to the next book in this series. Definitely a credit worthy audiobook!!!

The narrator did a great job bringing the story to life. I felt like she nailed the accents! The characters are well developed and you get to know Mack & Lachlan well.

Nothing unique about this story...

I was disappointed after all the 5 star reviews I read. To me this was erotica with little to no storyline, a strong Boston accent and Irish brogue with a sprinkling of fake Russian in the mix of this narration. I am not interested in continuing on with the series.

Intense, Hot, Sexy, Gripping

Crow is devastatingly beautiful. Lachlan Crow is intoxicating as we learn the dark secrets of the Boston underworld. This Irishman is pure male, full of tradition, devotion and honor.

Mackenzie Wilder is a tough as nails girl with a heart of gold. Trying to solve the answers from the inside out, Mack decides to go looking deep inside the Irish Mafia. Her grit and determination had me from the start. With her wicked right hook, and smart mouth, she is quite the contender for Lachlan Crow.

I had to remind myself to breathe. Crow is intense, sexy and gripping. This crazy, wild ride is filled with twists and turns. Captivating and strategically placed characters keep you intrigued as the storyline unfolds.

Author A. Zavarelli is a gifted and talented writer. I’m in disbelief of her remarkable story telling ability. I floated away on butterfly wings feeling protected by the Crow.

Narrator Tracy Marks nailed this stunning performance. She provided a seamless transition for character to character. The accents were the perfect touch. Her emotionally charged performance kept me on edge.

UNDERWORLD HEA

I thought narrator Tracy Marks was alright especially with her Belfast accent.

I loved Crow an Irish Club & Lachlan 2nd in charge sounds sexy as f**k, someone you couldn't say no to & this is what happened to Mackenzie who had got herself noticed knocking out 1 of their men in the ring. So she then turns up at their club undercover to search & find out what had happened to her childhood friend, who joined their club as a dancer & Mac got nowhere with any police enforcement.
But Lach didn't wavy to know until she gave a div story, then the Russians wanted him to kill her & for him to marry one of their girls.
But he just couldn't do it not knowing why, so these 2 feisty people didn't want love, didn't want each other, well that was until they couldn't stop themselves. So we see these 2 become closer & THEY each know they have to do what they've intended to do so have lied & it's from here after a couple of months they realise their feelings have become stronger & need to tell each other & it's here things start to heat up in the action...

great narration

I really enjoyed the twists and turns through this book. Zavarelli books are pretty predictable but quite gripping. I have enjoyed the ones I've listened to and intend to buy more books from this author.
There was some criticism on the need for a male narrator for such a large male part, I found I didn't notice - which is accolade indeed as I now pick books based more on the narrator than the author, as some gave crucified very good stories with bad narration.

Great story but needs an Irish male narrator

I really enjoyed the story and Tracy's voice was really suited to Mac, however, I wish this had been dual narration, having an Irish man's voice would really have brought it to life as listening to Tracy play Lachlan and the male parts, the Irish accent was off.

Not great, not bad

It was not bad.
The narration was a bit weird with the female reading both POVs but she was good.
She was dropping the Boston accent quote often but it was actually better in ways.

I enjoyed the storyline

I enjoyed the storyline, it kept me hooked and it has intrigued my interest into the next book although I may read that one.
I personally prefer 2 person narration so that put me off a bit, there were times I was a bit confused as to who’s POV it was as the narrators Boston and Irish accents did blend together at times.

An outstanding audiobook mafia story

Crow is an outstanding mafia, suspense story that is perfect on so many levels. The two main characters Mack and Lach are multi-faceted, with additional supporting characters who add great depth and layers to this world. Mack is fiesty and full of fire. Lach is strong, determined and brooding, but fair and passionate. They make a phenomenal pairing.

The story itself is a complete page-turner. There is mystery, intrigue and blood, searches for the truth, shady dealings, turf-wars and so much more.

I have read this book lots of times now, and I never get tired of it. This book is one of my all time favourites. Infact, the whole 'Boston Underworld' series is amazing, and I would recommend to anyone who enjoys these type of stories. This is a complete stand-alone novel. You do not need to read any other books in the series to enjoy this one.

This time I decided to purchase the audiobook to enjoy it. The narration on this book was perfect.

One of my all time favourites.

I have come to realise that I thoroughly enjoy the dark romance genre, but that the book must also have a very strong plot line to match or exceed the romance. For me, the romance should be part of the story, not THE story. This book ticks all the boxes. The romance was smoking hot, Loch was a character I could stand behind, and an excellent example of a strong, complex lead male and Mac was also an exceptional example of a strong lead female. Neither of the characters over shadowed the other and were both equally as strong in their own right. I didn't feel that one was more dominant than the other, which was surprising and I am quite shocked that I really liked this aspect - considering I am all about alpha males.

The secondary characters have left me guessing and I can not wait to read more about them in their own books. It's so enjoyable to have a novel that has such an interesting plot and I look forward to devouring book two.

Sometimes I feel listening to books on audible deflects and takes away some of my enjoyment, I can quite happily tell you this was not at all the case with this book. The narrator did a fantastic job.

Great Mafia Romance

I am currently loving mafia romance and my first read by A Zavarelli is no different. Told in dual POV we have hot has all hell, Lachlan Crow, the second in command to the Irish Mafia, and Mackenzie Wilder, daughter of an Irish American Boxer, and a girl on a mission to find her missing friend. With no luck from the authorities she decides to infiltrate the Irish underworld and in doing so she succeeds in getting more than she bargained for. With lots of action from the get-go, the story was passionate, it was gritty and the supporting characters did a fantastic job of making it believable (in a far fetched mafia way) I loved the chemistry between Lachlan and Mackenzie, two extremely strong people that have to learn to trust each other whilst not forgetting their end goal, but when feelings start getting involved all bets are off. I will definitely be looking into reading more of Boston Underworld. Tracy Marks did a fantastic job narrating Mackenzie, however I was not keen on her narration or accent of Lachlan, I think I would have preferred a male voice. I received an audible copy of this book at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."

A must listen

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would 100% recommend this audio book. The mobster angle had me on the edge of my seat all through the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Crow?

to many to pin point one

Have you listened to any of Tracy Marks’s other performances? How does this one compare?

no but after this one book i am a big fan... Tracy was amazing with her accents, normally a book like this needs a male narrator but Tracey did an amazing job with an irish accent.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes

Any additional comments?

You won't regret this audio book

Loclan Crow

Wow what a great story, strong characters, Tracy Marks did a great job with the Narration. A love story filled with gun carrying Irish mobsters & Russian mafia. Also plenty of hot sexual action. A strong female fighting her way to find the truth while slowly losing herself to Crow and all he stands for. Love is strong and it wins in the end.

A gritty story

Thrilling, compelling and addictive are just some words to describe this book, it's a fresh look on the mafias in the USA that doesn't involved an Italian but hot sexy Irishman with oh so sexy accents to boot :P our heroine is feisty but she did pisses me off when she let Sean pulls her into his lap and thinks she can get info on Thalia from him in front of all the other mobsters, gods how stupid can she be bloody idiot. Anyway Full marks for the narrative pun intended hehe Tracy Marks is amazing, she can jump from a man's voice to a female voice with no problem and it's believable wow she is great. Thank you xox

Awful, overrated rubbish.

OK, this novel is obviously aimed at young female readers. The plot is implausible, unconvincing, the sex is laboured to death, and the protagonists lack depth of character. It will appeal to an adolescent audience. The narrator does credit to an otherwise mediocre work.
