    "Incredibly helpful"
If you could sum up How to Talk to Anyone in three words, what would they be?

Very helpful book, full of very good practical advice - the best part is the advice actually felt realistic, it felt like things i could actually do in my own life.

What was one of the most memorable moments of How to Talk to Anyone?

Narration was very good. Loud, clear and engaging voice.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

I guess the thing to remember is the things you will learn from this book will take time to seep in (although i found positive changes immediately!) as you cant expect to change a life-time of habits overnight, but stick with it, it does work. I am walking testament of that!

    Any additional comments?

Dealing with social anxiety / anxiety / self-esteem / shyness issues is not easy but it can be beaten. This is a fantastic book that will give you a lot of the tools you need to progress in life.

    "Awesome Book!"
What did you love best about How to Talk to Anyone?

This book is the kind of book that I think everyone should read and/or listen to. Jennifer provides very real strategies and advice for overcoming the doubt or anxiety that may be associated with certain social situations. Social anxiety can be a crippling thing, and it’s something that many of us go through. I think that Jennifer does a great job in offering her advice. The best part about it is that what she offers, her solutions, are incredibly practical and easy to apply to your own life. That’s what makes it such a great read. If you’re looking for answers to problems that keep surfacing—shyness, the inability to maintain a quality conversation, difficult thoughts, feelings, tough circumstances—then you will want to check this out.

    Any additional comments?

Definitely going to recommend this to my friends. In a way, helping spread this information to other people kind of helps all of us in the end. If we all approach social interactions with a level of openness and comfort then it just means that conversations, social gatherings, etc will be more fun and engaging. Glad that I read it!

Absolutely fantastic book and most definitely my favorite in a very long time. Helped me deal with a load of issues. Social anxiety and shyness issues have always plagued me and they are most definitely not easy to overcome but i found the advice in this book to be excellent.

Of course not everything worked immediately, it did take a week or two for some things to click into place and their is one section (to do with social occasions) i had to listen to several times, but that is fine - u cant expect a life long list of bad habits to be eradicated with a single listen. It does take time but it is worth it.

A wonderful book and i hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.

"Dr. Jennifer Alison Saved My Social Life"

I was that person who, if you could get me to a party, would always slink in the corner and not want to talk or do anything. If I ever did talk, I never felt like I said the right things, and my conversations were always filled with those dreaded awkward silences.

After taking the time and patience to listen to what Dr. Alison had to say, I am now a much more confident and social person, with many more lasting relationships than I've ever had.

Thank you for saving my social life Dr. Alison!

Would you consider the audio edition of How to Talk to Anyone to be better than the print version?

Well i guess some people prefer to read books but personally i find audiobooks a lot easier to consume

What about Rachel Austin’s performance did you like?

Liked her voice, simple and easy to follow and understand.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

IT ACTUALLY WORKS...which makes a change for books in this genre!

I would give this book 9 out of 10. I would have liked a few more of examples of other people who got better but apart from that I LOVED the advice and tips and found it all very very useful!

    Any additional comments?

A genuinely helpful and informative book, dealing with many issues to do with knowing what to say in many situations. For me I had issues with social situations. At times it was shyness, at times it was social and other anxieties and at times it was just being stuck for words, or worse saying the wrong or inappropriate thing. I found the flow of conversation a hard thing to get. Whilst I am not exactly perfect now, by half way thru this book i did see a noticeable improvement which has carried on ever since.

    "Fantastic!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. This is a really great book full of solid practical advice with just the right amount of self discovery. It covers a wide spectrum of conversational skills; from body language to conversation starters. There is a lot of focus on how to get people to enjoy talking to you, including some top notch advice on how to be a good listener and how to show people that you're interested in what they have to say. I hadn't ever thought about conversation in this light and I really think the author did a fantastic job with it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of How to Talk to Anyone?

There are quite a few humorous moments throughout the book which is quite rare in books about self progression. I love the fact that it's impactful without being too heavy or monotonous.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Initially I did listen in one sitting but I'm planning to listen to it again over the space of a week or two so I can really focus on it and get even more out of it.

    Any additional comments?

Conversation is such an integral part of life. Feeling confident when you're speaking to people can make such a difference to your experience with others. I feel a lot more secure in myself now and I already feel less anxious about socialising (including when talking to people I find intimidating!). I highly recommend this book and I think anyone could benefit from it. It's great to learn how to really have time for other people and keep our communication with one another healthy and enjoyable!

What did you like most about How to Talk to Anyone?

My problem has always been shyness, since i was a kid. I hated social situations or anything i didn't have full control over. I have been following the advice in this book for about a month now and can feel myself gradually but surely getting better.

I no longer have huge fear over social situations, i am getting there slowly and for that i am very grateful to the author of this book. x

I liked the narrator a lot...only criticism would be the cover of this book which is not great.

Really useful nook, full of very good practical advice. I have been dealing with general social anxiety, shyness etc for most of my life. This is not an overnight cure but i can sincerely say I am handling difficult situations so much easier. I can now see why so many people have recommended this book to me.

Perfect length. Not too long, not too short. The perfect length to get the message across. Narrator i would say was 4 / 5.

Great book, i feel so much better and will continue to use the advice in this book everyday!

What made the experience of listening to How to Talk to Anyone the most enjoyable?

    That it worked!

Have you listened to any of Rachel Austin’s other performances? How does this one compare?

    Not that i know of.
    Her voice was great.
Easy to understand and to follow.
    Professional recording.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Cry once...in the best way.
Because I felt a positive change inside.

    Any additional comments?

I hate how i am in public situations, to the point i often avoid them.
I feel awkward, never know what to say, i feel nervous and at times properly frightened.
Avoidance is easier than tackling it.

    No more.

Things have changed and I put it 90% down to this book and 10% to myself.

    Proper advice.
    Advice anyone can use.

I am so much better and for that I am eternally grateful to the author. I still have a little bit more to go but i have never felt so positive.

If you could sum up How to Talk to Anyone in three words, what would they be?

    Real, Truthful, Informative

What was one of the most memorable moments of How to Talk to Anyone?

That realization that you are not the only person who is thinking about people seeing you in a negative light.

    Any additional comments?

This book is very honest and talks about the way the society is right now. How human communication has changed and the impact this has had on society. We have been socially conditioned to act differently and this has given us an irrational fear which is why it has become so difficult for some people to connect with people these days.

I found this book to be very useful as it goes into depth about a great deal of subjects in this area which opens your eyes so you can see that you are only perceiving the world in a negative light because of your own inner fears and beliefs.

The information is very straightforward and easy to digest. I would recommend listening to it a few times so that it really starts to sink in. I would say that this is one of those essential books that you will find will help you with your anxiety, stress and shyness. I have already seen the change after only one read.

An excellent resource, one full of very valuable informations, and tactics. My shyness has plagued me all my life but i am slowly (it takes time!) getting better, thanks to what I have learnt from this book. I am now on my 4th listen to it, which should say a lot. Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely! This book exceeds expectations. A lot of books like this take a very generic approach and I'm happy to say that this one really stood out. I've read a few of Jennifer Alison's books now and they just keep getting better. Her style is refreshing. Unlike so many other authors, she seems to really respect her readers. She doesn't patronise or offer loads of generalised advice. Rather, she always starts by encouraging you to really think about yourself, your experience, your feelings and your behaviours. Then she guides you through the self progression. I have found that this approach really works; the more you understand your fears, flaws and anxieties, the more you get out of the advice that follows. She challenges you to step outside your comfort zone and she gives you the confidence you need to do so. In my opinion, this is another winner from a great writer.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the chapter on conversation in the digital age. It's very current and really it's something we could all benefit from reading. The fact that we spend so much time texting and emailing nowadays really does make face to face conversation harder. Nearly everyone I know has social anxiety to some degree and this part of the book really gets to the bottom of it.

    Any additional comments?

I think this book would be good for just about anyone. Whether you have social anxiety or you just don't know how to successfully strike up a conversation. I got it because I get nervous when speaking to groups at work and I'd like to feel more comfortable going out on dates. So far I'm happy to say that it's definitely working :)
