Publisher's Summary

When the topic of grandchildren comes up during a weekly sewing circle, the matriarchs of the founding families seek out the witch Elder to scry to see if their sons have mates. They are shocked to discover that many of their son's mates are out in the world and are human!

Fearing that their future daughter in laws will end up dead before being claimed and providing them with grandchildren to spoil, they convince their own mates that something must be done. After gathering all of the warriors together in a fake award ceremony, the witch Elder casts a spell to pull the warrior's mates to them, whether they want it or not.

Aiden McKenzie is adamant that he doesn't need a mate and that she would only get in the way. He doesn't have time to coddle a female. He likes his world run with military precision. Little does he realize, Fate is sending him his mate first! He meets his destined mate Meryn Evans and things go downhill from there. She is the embodiment of chaos. In the first 24 hours she kicks, screams, and knocks her bear shifting mate unconscious.

Eventually they discover that life before finding each other may have been good, but life afterwards is perfect, even if it involves super soaker battles and accidentally discharging hand grenades.

Unfortunately the joy of their mating is overshadowed when Aiden and Meryn find themselves embroiled in a missing persons case assigned to Aiden by the Lycaonian Council. By assisting Aiden, Meryn finds herself the focus of a demented killer.

Can Aiden and the elite warriors from the Alpha Unit keep Meryn safe? Or did Fate bring her to Lycaonia to die?

"Hysterically Funny & Irreverent Paranormal Romance"

Don't you love it when a "first" book you listen to makes you immediately want to buy the entire series? That's what happened with this book. Within the first few chapters I stopped listening for just a moment to search and buy the other books --- they weren't there. NO...NO...NO. I NEED a My Commander fix NOW!!!

This is the funniest paranormal romance I've heard. It takes irreverent pokes at society. The author wrote things that I've often wanted to say and sometimes did much to my embarrassment. They say "the truth will set you free" and Meryn Evans spoke it with a good dose of "hoof and mouth disease". If you want tears running down your face with laughter, pee in your pants giggles and a snort thrown in for good measure, then listen to this book. Meryn takes on paranormal high society in the funniest way.

Aiden McKenzie, the Apha Unit's Commander, is out patrolling when a tiny human climbs the warded fence and throws his life into chaos. A human is his mate and she is everything he doesn't need to fit into his station in life. Not only is she human, she is an introverted geek and a computer genius. So, after she knocks him out (spoiler alert) he does the only thing he knows how to do. He locks her in the trunk and takes her home to his parents. They can figure out what to do with her. Let the hi-jinks begin.

I saw that one person hated the narrator. I thought she did an awesome job with her characters. Maybe that reviewer just doesn't have the same sense of humor that I do. Take the time to listen to the sample to see if the author's humor is the same as yours. It definitely tickled my funny bone. The only negative is the book stopped too soon and I felt left hanging as if I was at the end of a chapter rather than the end of a book. Otherwise, it's a 5 star laugh out loud book of wonder.

If you hurry, this book is a whispersync $.99 Kindle and $1.99 audiobook when purchased together. (5/1/17)

There are 8 -12 books (includes novellas) in the "Bewitched and Bewildered" series and sadly, this is the only one in audio format at the present time. Alanea Alder also has another 8 book series, "Kindred Of Arkadia". This author could be my "New Favorite" author if the other books are similar to this one. Now if Audible would just publish the other books in audio format.

Over 28,000 people on Goodreads rated both series with an average of between 4.19 - 4.38. We couldn't all be wrong.

    "YES YES YES!!!"

Such a funny, refreshingly different view on the paranormal community. I loved how the author made sense with the different sections, leaders and roles the paranormals play. I loved the drama, the characters, secondary characters and misc. characters (I'm sure will have books later) all fit in and blended perfectly. the story was HILARIOUS!!, fun, a bit angsty, had drama, comedic relief and was fun spirited. would highly reccommend!!!

    "Found my Frost Fix!"

This was my first listen from this author and Ill be the first to say that it was Awesome! I haven't been this entertained by paranormals since the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost. This listen had me laughing out loud all through out the book. This was a mistake to listen at night...I couldn't put it down. The narrator is awesome she did an excellent job with all of the different voices. I'm upset that the next book isn't out yet because it did end on a cliffhanger. This is well worth your credit!!

    "Second time is the charm"

I purchased this book back in the summer of 2016, I love this author and this series, but the first narrator was not very good. Apparently authors do listen (I wasn't,t the only negative review) and found a much better narrator. Thank you Ms Alder. Please do whispersinc if you can, for we fans who like print and audio.

    "What a fun quirky read!!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of My Commander to be better than the print version?

The audio version is definitely better than the print version. The narrator, Charlotte Kane, drew me in and allowed me to bring the characters to life.

What other book might you compare My Commander to and why?

This is a very unique book. I'm not sure I've read anything that comes close.

What about Charlotte Kane’s performance did you like?

I absolutely loved the different accents used by the narrator Charlotte Kane. I have read the kindle versions (books 1-8) and I must admit, no one could have done Meryn any better.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Round 1: Warrior vs Geek

    Any additional comments?

I loved, loved loved this book! Meryn stole the show and I found myself laughing out loud at the most inappropriate times. The warriors in the convenient store had me laughing for at least 15 min. A definite reread. I can't wait for the next 7 installments..

"A book you need to listen to!"
What made the experience of listening to My Commander the most enjoyable?

A well written story, read by a talented reader that had me laughing on my long road trip.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Meryn, she takes no prisoners and you never know what she is going to say next. I almost felt sorry for Aiden a time or two.

Have you listened to any of Charlotte Kane’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No this was a first and I really liked her. I hope she reads the rest of the series.

    Any additional comments?

I have never left a review, and bought this book on a whim, because I was going on a long road trip, never expecting to have so much fun listening to a wonderful story and knowing I had found a new author and narrator to listen to. I hope the rest of the books are recorded on Audible in the near future.

    "must read or audio book"

A book you never get tired of reading or listening to. Well narrated, still think it would have been even better with multiple narraters, the charraters would have come across better. As the charraters are one of the books strengths .
