annoying narrator

It was a pretty good guide on how to quit drinking, though a bit too pat. the narrator was annoyingly perky. she had too many inflections and made the content sound more trite than it was. Her reading was a minus.

Alcoholism is something that runs in my family. I’ve always had trouble understanding why its so addicting and worrying I would be the next one in my family to become the alcoholic. I picked up this book hoping to gain knowledge and understanding of what my family members have gone through. Describing in great detail the addiction and how it effects both the mental state and physical state was something I didn’t realize. Most of the information in this book was new to me, but it all made sense. The methods outlined are something I’ll keep handy just incase I see my family members struggling. This book has a lot to offer and suggests some wonderful natural methods to overcome this addiction and build a stronger mental state. This book is not only useful to people struggling with alcoholism, but also friends and family.

Some Wise info on the effects of Alcohol.

If you want to know the inner workings of how alcohol damages the body? How to recover from addiction and find the answer to putting off a pleasing poison? I think this book may be for you if you don't know about liver vs alcohol interaction on the constant basis for regular drinkers but also addicts that need the information on whats going on especially when the toxins can pass the blood brain barrier. Susan does a nice job defining what steps to take to get you to your place you think is your optimal health. Please pay attention and you'll bring yourself some useful information.

Practical Help for Quitting

There is life outside the influence (of alcohol).

My friend struggles with addiction, has for years. So, when this book came out, I wanted to get a feel for what fuels his struggle. I have several friends who have been helped by the 30-days approach, so I was interested to get an inside look. This book helped me understand how 30 days of total abstinence can truly reboot a person's life!

Written in a supportive, understanding tone, the author walks you through each stage, from preparation and the initial commitment to the final days, including all the days in between. She details what you can expect to experience at each stage along the way and gives specific instructions for handling each challenge.

I finished this book with a greater appreciation for my friend's struggles, as well as a sense of hope that, yes, it is quite possible for a person who has a physical addiction to alcohol, to successfully kick the habit!

Helping you to prepare to quit drinnking

I actually bought this book to help out a friend who expressed concern about her drinking and I wanted to be able to research some strategies or some ways that I could help.
I appreciated that this book has a very positive tone, it is not accusatory and really focuses on the feel good element of coming off alcohol. It details a variety of coping strategies, programmes and therapy options one might consider, it also highlights the results and dangers of overdrinking.
I particularly appreciated that it talked about understanding the thought process behind addictions and behavioral patterns.

Ok

Some of the advice at the beginning is really useful but then it goes on to talk about films to watch to distract you from drinking etc. This possibly would work for some, but not me. Also they start referring to help groups that are in the states. Not bad, but it didn’t work for me.

Stop drinking and be healthier

I can highly recommend this audio book to anyone who wants to quit drinking. The book will not only help you manage your drinking but also helps you to feel better about yourself and to help improve your health and lifestyle. The author starts with her own story and shares her own experiences. Then she goes through the major disadvantages of drinking alcohol and explains what alcohol does to your brain and your body. There are plenty of ideas and methods you can use to help yourself stop alcohol consumption and there is also a personal action plan you can follow.

Quit drinking and enjoy your life!

‘Quit drinking’ by Susan Hollister is a very motivational and inspirational audio book. It is helpful to find out many solution, tips and advices how to stop drinking and be more positive. If you are drinking and feel bad enough with that it is time to limit your alcohol usage per day. Gail is a very good narrator with interesting reading manner.
Susan helps you to create healthy environment like start some sport, good diet, plenty of water or even a dog. I think dog is a great friend and helps you to go out more instead of drink. Also spend time with people who doesn’t like to drink much can be helpful, especially children or grandparents. Susan advices to keep yourself busy, recommended great movies about alcoholic problems and lots of topic to discuss and read about.
Most important is to find interesting hobbies and relaxing duties that prevent you from drinking. Shows you right way to detox and if necessary AA strategies or help from specialist.
I find her audio very useful, especially for New Year resolution. Hope it is help.
