Dont know what the fuss is about

This is a good book. Its exactly as its described. For people that say that the narrator is monotone, maybe check your speakers or headphones. Collins brings a lot of infelction and emotion to the story. For people that complain about the sex scenes, it says mature at the bottom and those scenes are few and far between. I will say that the sex is a little unimaginative and repetitive in nature, like the MC is a one trick pony. As for whats really important, the story is entertaining, the chatacters are fleshed out and 3 dimensional (FYI, the MC is pretty OP), and the action scenes are excellent.

mono tone

ok I've read a few reviews and i noticed that a good amount of people were complaining about the mono tone of the reader, and i partly agree he does put emotion into the characters but he doesn't change the tone of the vocies so it is hard to tell who is talking, example the big grizzly guard sounds the same as the book worm boy same as all the women sound the same

barely legal sex scenes

seems like the writer has a barley legal fetish and is living out his desires for adult teens in his human hero. the battle scenes were fun, but listening to the hero have a hard on while trying to fill up on the two 18 year old princess hotties, no thanks.

The blandest narrator I've ever heard

I struggled to finish this. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't that this was poorly written, it was the narrator was one of the worst I've ever heard. I listen to many audible books each with their range of narrators, but this one set a new bar.
this narrator has 0 inflections and 0 voices. many times I had to pause it or go back to remember who was talking, not to mention emotional scenes that lost all effect because everything was just the same.
I would recommend buying and reading the book over this audio version.

Good story marred by unnecessarily graphic sex

Good story but contains a couple completely unnecessarily graphic sex scenes that don't fit the genre at all and don't add to the story. They come across as completely gratuitous. Also, the narrator apparently only has a single voice. I've become used to Audible book narrators doing a good job of performing the different voices so I was quite disappointed with this book which is simply read aloud.

Game of Thrones Fanfiction

I felt as if this book was written by a teenager based off of the vernacular the characters were using. Also, there was a lot of sexually explicit content that felt very awkward to listen to. It definitely improved in the ending chapters in terms of wordplay and word structure.

Good but

OK I have 2 problems with the boo. that said number one is that voice actor didn't have enough range in this voice and characters, and was monotone for the majority of the book. number two is that we really didn't need the second point of view from Pawg after the first two times and just feels like filler due to his lack of significance.

ehh

liked the story till the very end. a great mysterious history that is revealed in little chunks that add up nicely. interesting characters. then rocks fall and everyone dies. of course they aren't actually dead it's just a cliff hanger hook to make you get the next book but that is awful writing. a book should be a contained story that fits into a larger story not an episode with to be continued as the final cut.

The story is great ...the narator not so much.

Even thou I loved the story the monoton voice of the narato almost ruint it for me. thire was no atempt on having any emotied impakt by changing tone of voice. sex seen, blody slaughter and lunch plans are all naratot with the same almost emotineless vocie. if it is the sam narator on the nekst book i will by it in an other format.

Good concept, a bit slow

I like the idea for the plot, and the first half of the book is pretty gripping. However as the book goes on there are a few chapters that are entirely pointless and distract from the story. Paug very quickly grew dull and I skipped several of his later chapters.

The narrator has a good voice but a very robotic delivery. There is no effort made to make characters sound at all distinctive or different.

The story is good but the sex is not.

It's a good job I use headphones my family would cringe. Not sure why we spend as much time detailing every nibble and kiss as we do describing large battles. I guess it is a fresh approach. Narrator has a good voice but delivery needs some work. But will listen to the next volume skipping the grinding chapters.

Knows how to pull those heart strings.

Gosh darn that ended strong. Leaves you needing more. Although a bit of a dry start but dam it ends strong after building you up with that sweet charater progression.

Ok story; bad performance

Performer didn’t provide differing voices at all which made it confusing as to who was speaking and made the dialogue unbearable. Likewise the way the reader spoke had weird things emphasised which just made it all the worse... the story itself is also rather basic but still good.

Good Story, Poor Narration

First off, I enjoyed this book. Having said that there were major detractors from the overall quality that should be mentioned.
The most glaring issue is the narrator. His performance was adequate, but underwhelming. Almost no inflection to give character to the story or give emphasis and he doesn't even attempt to give the characters an individual voice. You can never tell who is speaking by the tone of his voice.
Another major issue was that 1/3 of the book is written from the perspective of a scared and underwhelming side character. It may have been an attempt to make the reader more attached to him but if so it failed miserably.
There are other issues but nothing as glaring as those.
Despite these issues, the storyline was gripping, most of the characters were relatable and interesting and best of all, the writing was descriptive and well done.
I think I would have enjoyed this much more in written format, but am still satisfied with my purchase.

Stupid Cliffhanger, Too Much Sex.

The story slowly degrades in quality as our powerful protagonist tries to sleep with everything female and has Vietnam flashbacks every couple of pages. Honestly, the story wasn't that bad. It would have just been preferable if the author didn't pad the book with so much crap to try force a terrible cliffhanger. The character's unfortunately weren't that memorable either.

Personally, I'd try something else. The quality never exceeds the first few chapters, so give them a listen and return it if you're not hooked in the first hour or so (best part of the book).
