Publisher's summary

Book Four of The Sword of Truth, the series first begun in Wizard's First Rule, returns listeners to the world of Richard Cypher, a simple woods guide who never dreamed he would be named the Seeker of Truth and become caught up in magic, war, and dangers so extraordinary that the fate of his entire world would hang on his actions and decisions.

The dangerous, fanatical Imperial Order, under the leadership of the power-mad Emperor Jagang and his multitude of demonic underlings, unleashes a deadly plague. To find a cure, Richard Cypher and his beloved Kahlan Amnell must seek out the legendary Temple of the Winds, a fortress of evil sealed away for 3,000 years. But the path of the Seeker of Truth is never an easy one - even if he can reach the Temple at all, there is no guarantee he'll ever return.

Should have quit the series before this book

This book is a series killer for me. I really like Goodkind's writing and the way he portrays themes of human nature, but this one made me throw up in my mouth a couple of times. Some of the graphic details of sexual perversion were a bit unnecessary. I don't need to be beaten over the head with that kind of imagery. I have a great imagination, and just need a hint. I think Terry got off on this one. Would he want his mother to read this? I wouldn't. If you like great fantasy without the yuck factor, get Robert Jordan instead.

Narration a problem

Not to beat a dead horse...Even the 150th time I hear this guy say "Collin" instead of "Kay-Lin" as was done for the last, what, over 45 hours of listening in the first 3 books, I still find myself wondering "Who the Hell is Collin?" Oh yeah, it's one of the main characters.

Then I have to wonder who cared so little about the buyer's and listener's experience as to overlook this production flaw...

Yes the story is okay, even wonderful, when describing other characters. Serves the purpose of entertainment while I drive my weekly 3000 miles, but doesn't endear me to this work. It's a distraction to have to mentally tell myself..Collin isn't a guy Richard loves..it's the same woman, pronounced "Kay-Lin" in the 1st three books.
Also, Zed sounds like a wheezy, weak old man in this book. Makes me glad he isn't in it as much.

Don't give up on The Bringer of Death!!!!!

If you could sum up Temple of the Winds in three words, what would they be?

Richard loves Kahlan

Who was your favorite character and why?

Richard, he will always be the best character he is the s--t!!!!

What about Dick Hill’s performance did you like?

He was ok I like Sam T. The best.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

For sure I can't put them down.

Any additional comments?

I can't say it enough this is a great series.

Stunningly wonderful!

This was an amazing story. The author outdid himself from previous novels. My one problem with the audio was that the narrator said names differently than previous books and that bothered me. Kahlan was pronounced differently than I was used to and every time she was mentioned I mentally corrected him. Besides pronouncing a few words differently I enjoyed this book immensely and can't wait to start the next one!

disappointed

I'm upset that I wasted money on this just to hear the narrator butcher the names. I couldn't figure out who the hell Collin was and now I'm just furious that he's messed up one of the main characters names so badly. I don't even want to keep listening I don't know if I can make myself get used to it. I agree with several of you that you should at least make a point to hear how the names have been pronounced in a long series if you're coming into it new and in the middle. I don't even care if he cheats and watches Legends of the Seeker to get it right.

Voice acting at its finest!

This was the most enjoyable read (or listen) of the series so far. The reader fave each and every character in the book it's own unique voice.
Only drawback was the pronunciation of Kaylan's name. It's not Collin, dude!
This is not a children's story. Highly adult material, though not porno, it's disturbing. Very insightful to play out both sides of the spectrum, good/bad. The story is set up that both sides fail, and both sides win.

Poor Narration

How could the performance have been better?

By the narrator taking the time to listen to the previous books in the series.

Any additional comments?

It is frustrating having every book narrated by a different person, but can we at least keep the characters names pronounced the same. This is book 4 and characters names should not be changing this far in to the series. All the narrator needed to do was listen to at least 1 of the previous books to learn proper pronunciation of the names. I liked the 1st books narrator the best, but the next 2 did ok (and at least didn't change characters names).

Great Narration!

Dick Hill really knows how to envelope one into the story! Such a treat the way he uses different voices for each character as well as effects for otherworldly voices! I love that he doesn't drone on like a robot like others in previous works in this series ! Bravo!
