Publisher's Summary

Reidon Ward will become a god.

He doesn't know it yet, of course. Reidon was born weak, sickly, and small. Afflicted with a painful disease and abandoned by his parents because of it, he has had to fight tooth and nail for every minor advantage life has allowed him.

However, his perseverance has not gone unnoticed, and when the most powerful artificial intelligence in human history takes an interest in him, things began to change quickly. Granted a CAD - a Combat Assistance Device - with awful specs but an infinite potential for growth, Reidon finds himself at the bottom of his class at the Galens Institute, one of the top military academies in the Collective. Along with his best friend, Viviana Arada, Reidon will have to start his long climb through the school rankings and on to the combat tournament circuits that have become humanity's greatest source of excitement and entertainment.

So begins the rise of a god. So begins the ascent of the Stormweaver.

Best book I've heard all year!!

I could not recommend this more if I tried. My only gripe is that I read it when it came out and now I have to wait until winter for book 2.

Fantastic story, killer narration

I read this in paper copy. Stayed up all night to finish it, it was that good. 6 months later, I listened to the audiobook. Even though I knew what was going to happen, I still couldn't stop listening.

Don't believe the hype. This book is average.

I got this book based upon the other glowing reviews this book has and after reading it I'm not sure if they're fake or what but I do not get the five-star reviews of this book at all.

Just because its so so so the same thing. Its got a fantastical world with a built-in level up system. It has a YA protagonist with a tragic backstory who is looked down on by everyone around him. It has a "badass" female love interest. And of course the protagonist is going to be the best because destiny (actually an AI) says so. This is so painfully average and what's been done before. It adds nothing and is only a five-star if you're the sort of person who can watch the same show happen over and over again and get pleasure from it.

TLDR: Its just another YA coming of age story. It doesn't deserve the praise.

A GREAT book with unique take on sci-fi fantasy.

Between O'Connor, Chmilienko, and Daniels. This book has the best making I've read in a while. 3 great artists. One very great book that is a little outside the norm.
The gamelit aspects are a different spectrum from the normal leveling.
The fantasy tech suits are a nice highlight for the story.
And lastly the story itself has a good bit of uniqueness that doesn't deprive the story of any action drama or mystery.
I highly recommend this to anyone who likes sci-fi fantasy, but don't expect much magic in the normal sense though. I feel that the magic like portions of the story will ramp up more in the second book.

This is what I wake up to hear. This book is awesome and makes me feel it deserved full price over a credit. Definitely one of the best credits ever spent. Can't wait for book 2.

I love the book, but it's too long

The world building, "magic system" and character development are all really well done. Cannot be denied.

The first time I read this book, I could not put it down. I was completely enthralled. I was hoping I would enjoy it just as much 2nd time around in audio form, but I found myself not having patience to sit through it all.

What comes across in the 2nd read, or listen in this case ...is that there are a lot of sections that you can skip through without really missing anything important storywise.

So I guess, my only complaint is that the book can be long-winded at times ...and even that isn't as big an issue on the 1st read/listen. On 2nd listen tho, and I recognize that this is nitpicking because I wanted the book to be a timeless classic that I could go back and enjoy over and over again, I feel like it's too long. Details are over-explained, and honestly there's a lot of fluff in there.
I honestly believe that the book would be better if it were pared down.

That said, I would still highly recommend this book to anyone into progression fantasy. It's a super creative interpretation of the genre, and I am very much looking forward to book 2.

Great story, and even better narration. 100% worth the cost, cash or Credit. Cannot wait for the next book and will be preordering it ASAP.

So much fun

Ok I’ll start the 1st 2 minutes I was pretty concerned I had wasted a credit, thought I’d give it a punt though,
After the prologue it was great 30 hours of great listening, I enjoyed the characters and there interaction, there’s some bits that I didn’t like there’s a bit to much repetition of certain phrases, but not enough to spoil it, overall a 👍🏻

Can’t wait for the next book

I bought the book on a whim, expecting it to be the same as all the other power levelling fantasys out there. Where the main character/s grow so exponentially and quickly that they become overpowered within the first 20 chapters, however the slow progression in levels aptly conveys the hard work that the characters put in coupled with the suspension before anticipated reveals each battle and moment feels weighty. Inspite of the world building and and balanced power system, the authors have obviously put in a lot of effort into each character. With even the background characters having substance and depth, making you genuinely care about the characters and their relations.

I can't believe I bought this book...

I can't believe I bought this book and it had only been out for a few days!
I love long books and to be honest, it suits my taste very well in every department.
I haven't even finished it yet and I am here to get the next instalment in my library for when I do - and I can't believe there is no next instalment in the series yet... now where is that crying emoji?

Brilliantly Brutal

A beautifully written weak to strong story with a likable MC. Combat is fast paced and brutal the way real fights are. The combat system is fairly unique the other characters are just as well written as the MC. Honestly I can't wait to get book 2 in this series

Loved it

I purchased this book on a whim and was definitely not disappointed!!.. I thought it was well written and particularly enjoyed the combat scenes. I found the characters likeable and not dull. Luke Daniels does an excellent job narrating and has come a very long way as a narrator since I first heard him 10 or so years ago.. not many books leave me craving the next instalment but this one did.... Also the narrator outtakes at the end were an excellent idea.. keep up the good work.

best book

over 30hrs long for only one credit, the story tracks ray ward an orphan who's life revolves around the setting of a body-enhancing ‘Devices,’ With every passing page, I became more and more eager to see the next fight, book charts his Progress in CAD technology , and his fascination with the SCTs ,and also his first relationship with Ava his very first girl friend ,I loved this book and can't wait for the 2nd one.

Enjoyable story with poor audible execution

I enjoy Iron prince from a story perspective, despite how tenuous some of the conceits are. This is my second pass of the content, having previously read it. The narration for the audible edition does not live up to the quality of the book. I'm not sure whether Luke Daniels just doesn't fit this style of story and/or if the voice direction was just that poor. The chosen voices for catcher, the MIND and the lasher in particular nearly made be abandon my listen.

Addictive

Stayed up way to late listening to this.
The action is fast paced like being at a sporting event
The characters are fun but often feel a bit more immature than I would like, but perhaps I'm out of touch,
overall a great listen and you have to love Lukes narration.

Look past the cover

The cover and description is extremely misleading with this book as it highly downplayed how good the book is. The quality of the writing is much better than what it seems to be before reading the book.

Fantastic, couldn't stop listening!

What a fantastic book, really enjoyable and entertaining throughout. Its a long book at 33hrs and i got through it in only a week!

The Narrator was fantastic and captured the feel of all the characters really well.

The description of the book is accurate, but misleading. This book is effectively 'first year at Hogwarts' rather than the 'rise of a god', and the book pacing is of that nature as well. The authors are clearly banking on quite a large number of books in the series. Hopefully they have time in their book release schedule to do this series the service it deserves.

One negative is long winded nature of the school tournament and comments on match after match, much of this could have been cut out will no ill effect of the story. This section of the book was only mildly interesting and i was just waiting for it to be over and attention brought back to the main characters.

Overall i loved it, it was my first real experience into LitRPG/progression books but wont be the last.
