Blackout: A Tale of Survival in a Powerless World

After an EMP bomb detonates over the United States, frying the entire electrical grid, Georgie Fitz decides to take refuge at her estranged father’s cabin in the Rocky Mountains with her boyfriend and his family. When they arrive, Georgie discovers that a group of survivalists have already erected a camp there, and her father is nowhere to be found. As she adjusts to her new normal, she has trouble adhering to the survivalists’ rules. Can she fit in at the camp and find out what happened to her father?

Static: An EMP Thriller

The thin thread holding the civilized world together has been severed. Millions of citizens have been thrust into the unknown, breeding fear into the minds and souls of those seeking to survive. Wren Burton, an architect from Chicago, has been engulfed by the chaotic aftermath of an EMP blast. Her family is injured. The enemy is unknown. And help is nowhere to be found.

Surviving the Collapse

What happens when all means of transportation and communication suddenly vanish? What happens when you can’t call for help? What happens when the only person you can rely on is yourself? Captain Kate Hillman is about to discover those answers after an EMP sends New York City, and its nine million residents, back into the stone age.

Just awful

Would you try another book from Alexandria Clarke and James Hunt and/or the narrators?

Nope! The narration on the first book was ok. They story was completely unbelievable. The main character is a man hating, super hero feminist. So unless you hate men I'd steer clear! The second book I couldn't even listen to. The narration is monotone and boring. Again another super hero woman. I didn't get very far with this one because he was so hard to listen to. I have no idea about the rest of the box set. I will be asking for a credit refund on this. I bought this because I have an off the grid property I am fixing up and wanted some entertainment while working. This having 40 hours of story I thought it would be perfect. Don't waste your time or credit.

Has The Pulse Super Boxset turned you off from other books in this genre?

I love this genre. Just not this boxed set. Skip this and go for A. American, Kevin Peirce, Forchstine.

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?

NO!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Pulse Super Boxset?

I would start over.

ridiculous

so horribly written I was rooting for the bad guys. the author obviously has no idea about prepping, firearms, or just simple self-preservation. the main character is completely inept and blunders her way into every bad situation possible and somehow manages to come out alive. I couldn't imagine this woman surviving a trip to the grocery store let alone the end of the world.

Too many Man issues

What disappointed you about The Pulse Super Boxset?

Conveys a extreme dislike for men making the stories even more unbelievable than the poor writing abilities of the authors.

What could Alexandria Clarke and James Hunt have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Let someone else write it.

Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?

Absolutely not.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger and disappointment.

Any additional comments?

Not worth the time.

no stars

maybe the storyline would be suited best for a 12 yr. old girl. Which coincidentally, is what the main character reminded me of. I listen to lots of audiobooks, this is the first time I've felt compelled to write a review.

Off base for me too

If you like these kind of books R.E. McDermot wrote a series that is amazing and totally worth the time to read/listen..
This type of book annoys me poorly researched. The flying stuff is annoyingly incorrect on so many small levels that I want to give the author a ride in a private small plane.
Then there is the fact that so many small things in general are off.. It just keeps pulling me away from the story.
So I’m sorry I just want a little bit of research, on what it written about, and a good editor to fix small things. In other words I agree with the other reviews.
Too feministic, to much unreasonable stuff for me to get lost in the story..
Writing seems okay.. but all in all reminds me of that Gieko Commercial where dudes riding a unicorn but saving 15% like that’s the part that’s unbelievable..

The pulse

This book had a scenario of how it could be. Very realistic people and circumstances. Didn't like all the swearing but I recommend it to anyone who needs to prepare for this happening.
