Better than expected

Although this book was better than I expected it was still quite gory and violent. The saving grace was the overall story. The characters were very good and it held my interest even though the brutality in the beginning nearly made me return it. I am glad i stuck with it because it was quite good. If you don't mind a bit of blood and guts I recommend you give this book a listen.

Great read!

My first techno-thriller. I loved it! The characters were amazing. This book was a mile a minute thrill ride with a little humor mixed in.

One of the best Techno thrillers

Konrath writes some amazing books with Jack Daniels but this one takes the crown! What a great story and super awesome characters!! I’ll be looking for all Mankowski stories! Read or listen to this ASAP! So great

very original

Hard to take a break from this book reading. Enjoyed that it was an unusual plot, historic characters meet modern day scientist project by powerful, rich, egomaniac.

Awesome thrill-ride

Storyline started off active, then slowed up and picked back up where it needed to.

Really?

Note to author: FFS! Do your home work. Human cloning is as old as humans. Identical twins are human clones. Do identical twins have identical handwriting?

This is a terribly researched book. Cherry-picked facts with anything inconvenient to the story being ignored. Just stupid.

*sigh* Never mind. Who needs science. Just make stuff up. It's more entertaining than plausibility is.

Why does everyone have the same voice?

Narrator leaves a lot to be desired. His flow is terrible and he uses the same voice for several of the characters. As if this wasn't bad enough, the author makes the protagonists all rather gullible so they can perpetually fall for the same foolishness. So many holes it couldn't float if it was a boat.

Thankfully this book was only $2.95.

Pass

I didn’t make it to the three-hour mark. First, the plot by itself is almost totally impossible. Then you try to get past that and live in the writer's world. In his world is stupid. For example, a lady beats off an attacker trying to kill on two occasions in one day and then gets a call to say he’s coming for the third time but the police don’t bother to give any protection. But that’s ok because they try to kill officers multiple times but nobody works it but those two. Just too stupid. And those two officers they want to fire, for what you say, no one knows. Lastly, I’m not fond of the narrator. I think he is average at best.

How is this Book Rated so Highly???

How is this book rated so highly???

We’ll start with the positives. The pacing is definitely fast – you won’t be bored listening to this one! The concept of genetic copies of famous historical figures, tying that into a “nature vs nurture” debate, and seeing how those people turn out is really good. This direction should have been much more deeply delved into and would have made an intriguing story.

Everything else is complete trash. The characters are incredibly shallow, predictable, and continuously make terrible decisions. The plot holes are big enough to drive an ocean liner through. The dialog is atrocious and, as other reviews have noted, completely sophomoric. Absolutely NOTHING about this book is even remotely plausible. I was ready to quit halfway through, but I could see the train wreck that this was turning into and just had to finish to see how bad it would end up. Yep, it’s bad.

Thank goodness I got this for $2.95 instead of wasting a credit on it. Often you get what you pay for and while I’ve come across some gems in the Daily Sale bin, this isn’t one of them. Do yourself a favor and skip it…
