Publisher's summary

New, four-books-in-one! Post-apocalyptic action! The Day America Died! trilogy plus book four - The Final Ending - all four books in the series in one audiobook!

A nuclear EMP attack would shove the USA back 150 years. Death, chaos, and lawlessness would prevail....

Zack Johnson is no hero, but he does have some valuable prepper skills to help him survive. There is nothing like a nuclear apocalypse to help a man grow up and become a hero as he helps his family and friends survive. He is 2,000 miles from home; the grid and all modern transportation have failed. The country is degenerating into violence and dog-eat-dog scenarios. People are killing their neighbors for a scrap of moldy bread or a sip of water.

Zack has to get back to Kentucky to find his daughter so he can take her to the safety of his farm. The Department of Homeland Security is forcing people into relocation camps for their own good. Can Zack save his daughter and help his friends survive the apocalypse?

Fantastic intense storyline

21 hours and unable to stop listening over several days. So many twists and turns, yet each challenge required different actions with different results keeping the listener wondering what will happen next!

There are two categories in the SHTF gene

1. Serious well written stories that feel realistic.

2. Well written outlandish fiction.

This story falls under the second category. An outlandish story with outlandish characters in a setting that could be seen as plausible but over exaggerated but overall enjoyable thanks to the performance of the narrator.

A common theme of the 2nd category that is featured here is the lamentation of perverts and everything that comes with it, almost to the point that you think an author could be projecting, I also find it ironic that in the books that fall under the 2nd category the Christian undertones while writing about the execution of drug users and dealer why the main characters indulge in alcohol and the hints of promiscuity.

Overall the story is enjoyable thanks to the performance of the narrator.

Decent but not spectacular

The narrator sounds like he struggled through this series, he voice seemed stressed. The story line was ok at first but then veered off course into wth land and some extremely unbelievable scenarios. The ending was very weak though a happy ending it was weak. Subjectively as my opinion is, it’s only an opinion.

Well Done!

I think this is the first time I've ever heard a story narrated by BC Archer. He did a good job.

Lots of prepper tips in a story that goes beyond restoration of US. Starts with a dad needing to get home and what's happening on the homefront, but main character is a competent male best friend rather than a more or less competent female. Gave the story an entirely different flavor on all counts. Lots of battles, bugouts to different locations as 1 becomes untenable, warrior Israelis, even a decent president. Take overs by Chinese, Russia, Mexico and Cuba. Iran, Iraq and North Korea all thrown into the mix. Well done!

As told by a horny 16 year old.

I listened to the entire series. It wasn't horrible and had some high points that were overshadowed by all the females with great hair and bodies.

good book

The story is great. The narrator is what makes it less than great. still worth listening to, but could have been better.

Decent story line, rushed ending!

One of the things I noticed quickly about this series was the lack of real world language.. The author or narrator used way to many perfect and complete grammatical language in situations where the characters and situations would not be so perfect.

The story line in the series also had a lot of long leaps in logic. It was a decent read, but toward the end I got the feeling the author was rushing to get to an end...Way too many questions, whys and incomplete story line gaps. Gonna think twice with this author next time.

Pretty typical post apocalyptic fair, with a noticeable, but not constant, conservative political tilt.

It’s hard to tell whether the author actually believes the political bias of the story, or whether he is trying to target the tastes and opinions of a specific audience. Not all preppers are right wing Christian fundamentalists. The authors descriptions of “ left wingers and liberals“ looking for a handout and being unwilling to help out is simplistic and juvenile stereotyping. The story could’ve been told without engaging in the pro forma denigration of an entire political spectrum.

The author also displays an unrealistic picture of farmers and ranchers as correct thinking, hard-working, honest folk, who would never take it vantage of their neighbors or of their position. People are people. There is no section of our populace. That is all good or all bad. This is not both-sidesism, it is merely fact, a fact, the author seems unwilling to recognize, or chooses to ignore so as not to inflame his target audience.

As far as the technical research, it also seems to be fairly superficial. The author clearly does not understand the realities of sniping or, apparently, ballistics. The thinly veiled pseudonym of Martinvous seems somewhat unnecessary beside his accurate description of other islands in a Lesser Antilles.

I bought this trilogy as a box set audiobook. If I had bought the books individually, I would’ve stopped listening and buying after the first book. It was not unbearable listening, but it also was not terribly engaging. As I said earlier, my take away impression is that the premise and execution of these books is simplistic and juvenile.

Good But...

I found the overall story and narration pretty good. My only complaint is half this series seems to be full of sex or sexual innuendo. It cheapens the entire story after awhile. This could have been a great book with more actual story with a romantic interest instead of a story that is half survival and half soft-core porn.
