A lot to think about

This series gives us a lot to think about our integrity and survival mind sets.

Outstanding

I enjoyed this post apocalyptic series. Smith did an outstanding job of keeping the plot and characters developing through out. Smith’s storytelling comes to life and you feel like you’re in the action.

Bluetooth glued to my ear for this one!

EMP/Prepper type books all run along the same line generally, this one follows those same lines but diverges in the quality of the writing, it’s very good! Solid characters you’ll actually care about, the storyline is completely plausible particularly in today’s political climate and no hard or soft sell on any particular religious beliefs. I’ve sent books back that shove religious beliefs (pick one) down my ears, the “Righteous” make me suffer from “Indignation” so I avoid it! There are 4 books in this series and I was definitely mainlining one book after another (I was painting a house over several days, perfect time to mainline!), I stopped only to sleep! A couple of nit-picky things but no deal breakers(!): From one book to another some character position changes weren’t explained (foreseen yes) and a strong character in books 1 and 2 pretty much disappeared by book 4, really in both cases inquiring minds just want to know!! The narrator was awesome as always, you never doubt what character you’re listening to (and if you hate him/her you know he’s doing a great job!). Spend the credit NOW!

good read

This was one of the better EMP recovery books that I've read. Held my interest throughout. Recommend if the subject interest you.

Are YOU Ready?

A bit too much descriptive gore but I really enjoyed the story. It gives you something to think about...what's really important for basic survival.

Hmmm, STORY > NARRATOR

I like the author, I like the story, I like the publishers pack giving me 30+ hours of entertainment, but I cant help but feel like the narrator detracted from the whole thing. For the most part he did pretty well and to be honest, since I fell in love with R.C. Bray no body stands a chance in my mind – its unfair but whatya gonna do.
I know there are scary stressful situations that the characters are living through but so much of the interactions seemed over the top with worry, fear, anger or just whiny. Also sometimes the cadence of speech just didn’t make sense, starting out a sentence like a normal human being and slowly by the end the character is screaming and ends with kind of a questioning uptick? I thought Jake ( I think was his name) just had a very unusual way of speaking and was kind of entertaining, then I found out it wasn’t just him lol.
I would like to hear it performed by someone else i guess, the narrator is crucial and can make a bad book great and a great book so-so. Overall the story alone is good I still think it a good value and worth a credit.

Very good!

Narration was perfect. Entertaining without being distracting. The story is plausible. I felt the “bad” guys were pretty black and white and that part was unrealistic. There are plenty of bad guys that think they are justified for some misguided reason. In this book all the bad guys are sadistic. They could have had more depth. Otherwise great story!

I enjoyed this series very much! Great characters-both good and evil. It’s always interesting to me to explore what might be after an attack of this magnitude. It ended too soon - I am ready for book 5!!!
