Publisher's summary

Stop not doing what you know you should do!

You might think laziness, lack of willpower, and/or low motivation are to blame for the fact that you aren't achieving your goals. But fascinating research in the field of psychoneuroimmunology has revealed another, far more likely possibility. One with the potential to transform your life in a dramatic way.

The typical excuses for not doing what you know you should - I'm too stressed out... I don't have the time... I don't have the energy, etc. - are, in fact, manifestations of a complex, interconnected web of psychological, chemical, and neurological factors.

When activated, these factors can effectively paralyze you - making it virtually impossible for you to take the actions needed to create change in your life.

In other words, even if you're highly motivated...if you've got these internal circumstances operating, you aren't going to be able to do it.

But while the biochemistry may be complex, the solutions are actually quite simple.

Dr. Nick Hall reveals these solutions - and the fascinating science behind them - in I Know What to Do, So Why Don't I Do It? You'll learn:

  • An extraordinarily powerful stress-fighting tool that very few people take advantage of.
  • An easy way to instantly regain control and stay focused in an emotional emergency.
  • Six things to do when you think you've taken on more than you can accomplish in the time you have.
  • The mistake almost everyone makes when they organize their to-do list.
  • A simple exercise that can instantly tell you which side of your brain is dominant at any given time.
  • The first-thing-in-the-morning action that will literally reset your internal clock and have a profoundly positive impact on your energy level for the rest of the day (and it is SO easy to do!).

Good, but not what I expected

This book is fascinating, yet not what I was expecting. Most of it is on nutrition and his the brain / body works, which was interesting to me but only because I am in healthcare. There was good ideas on beliefs, visualization, etc. However, the interview at the end was horrible. The "interviewer", some big-wig at Nightingale, had the most insincere candor and was obviously not there for the interview, and was a huge insult to our intelligence. Otherwise, a good listen.

Practical and Funny

I really enjoyed this book. The author is really funny and has a pleasant English accent, so I enjoyed hearing him speak. The information was science-based and was presented in a way that is easily understood. I am excited to share this book with some friends and family.

Content is great, but poorly structured

The information from this "book" is actually quite helpful being quite well grounded in scientific research. If you're looking for ways to help improve your health, change your thinking and solve those issues to achieve your goals then this book has tips for all of those things.
I felt a little cheated though because I expected more of an audio book format. The book seems to be a collection of audio files from seminars by the author. Its easy to follow a long but it doesnt seem like much editing went into it. You'll probably notice hearing the same stories each chapter even though the subject changes which can be a bit annoying.
The last chapter which sort of summarized the whole program felt artificial. The interview sounded like he never had done this before, almost robotic. It was distracting particularly because I started wondering if he was even human or if the "interview" was an actual genuine one.
If you can handle a weak performance though and more concerned with the information to be gained it's a good listen.

Great listen

Just when you think the stories doesn't relate (to you), Mr. Hall ties it all together beautifully. I have a better perspective on why I don't do the things I know I should!

Worth It

From some references, it is obvious that it is not a current message, BUT... I loved the content and his delivery. I rarely take notes from audibles but I plan to on this. It may not be as powerful to some people, but to me was excellent.
