Publisher's summary

An irresistible story from Kasie West that explores the timeless question: What do you do when you fall for the person you least expect?

When Autumn Collins finds herself accidentally locked in the library for an entire weekend, she doesn't think things could get any worse. But that's before she realizes that Dax Miller is locked in with her. Autumn doesn't know much about Dax except that he's trouble. Between the rumors about the fight he was in (and that brief stint in juvie that followed it) and his reputation as a loner, he's not exactly the ideal person to be stuck with. Still, she just keeps reminding herself that it is only a matter of time before Jeff, her almost boyfriend, realizes he left her in the library and comes to rescue her.

Only he doesn't come. No one does.

Instead it becomes clear that Autumn is going to have to spend the next couple of days living off vending machine food and making conversation with a boy who clearly wants nothing to do with her. Except there is more to Dax than meets the eye. As he and Autumn at first grudgingly, and then not so grudgingly, open up to each other, Autumn is struck by their surprising connection. But can their feelings for each other survive once the weekend is over and Autumn's old life and old love interest threaten to pull her from Dax's side?

Surprisingly great!

Thought the whole book would be based in the library but I suppose that could have gotten old. I love the turns this book made. I was expecting a cheap read, just for fun, but I could really relate to Autumn and of course I loved Dax, and the relationships involving Jeff and Dalen as well. It went deeper than I expected and I really appreciate the depiction of mental illness and the supportive characters.

Overall cute and fuzzy story

This is a cute story that one has no problem listening to. It touches on subject matters of anxiety, the foster care system, car accident victims, parental drug usage and typical high school hijinks. The author Kasie West does a fantastic job getting real life issues out without being stuffy or mechanical in her writing. Her stories never fail.

✫✫ 3.75 - 4 Stars ✫✫

This was a fun YA story with some real life issues and some unrealistic situation. It was sweet and I enjoyed the story but it didn't blow me away. The narration was good and was well cast for the story & characters.

A Librarian's Dream

Okay. This book is delightful, though I confess I wish they had spent far more time actually trapped inside of the library.

Come on, that's basically a librarian's dream book premise, even though we all probably could have just trapped ourselves in a library for a weekend at some point. However, that would have been far less exciting, probably included doing work, and it would have been absent the presence of a broody almost stranger.

Still, I enjoyed the sweetness of the story, paired up with all the real world issues.
