Publisher's Summary

Seventeen-year-old Caymen Meyers learned early that the rich are not to be trusted. And after years of studying them from behind the cash register of her mom's porcelain-doll shop, she has seen nothing to prove otherwise. Enter Xander Spence - he's tall, handsome, and oozing rich. Despite his charming ways and the fact that he seems to be one of the first people who actually gets her, she's smart enough to know that his interest won't last. Because if there's one thing she's learned from her mother's warnings, it's that the rich have a short attention span. But just when Xander's loyalty and attentiveness are about to convince Caymen that being rich isn't a character flaw, she finds out that money is a much bigger part of their relationship than she'd ever realized. With so many obstacles standing in their way, can she close the distance between them?

cute story!

I listened to this in one day and couldn't put it down. Great story and character building with some unexpected twists, mature teens, a sweet PG love story and a happy ending.

A Homage to Gilmore Girls

Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed The Distance Between Us! First of all, this has ‘fanfic’ written all over it. As a massive Gilmore Girls fangirl myself, this actually made me happier rather than upset, so it was a complete guilty pleasure!

*Sheepishly grins from ear to ear*

Caymen (Rory) - is extremely close with her mom, but things have been stressful financially lately (always). She attends the local public school and has been taught that the rich are a certain breed you don’t want to get messed up with. She’s studious and into STEM, particularly on the path for crime scene investigation, but she plans to defer to help out her mom.

Xander (Logan) - is the filthy rich love interest that Caymen begins to hang out with behind her disapproving mom’s back. He’s being groomed to take over his father’s hotel dynasty in after college, which of course he’s trying to rebel against. He attends the exclusively rich private school named after his Grandmother.

Skye (Lane Kim) - is the amazing best friend who is dating a band guy and attends all of his gigs. I absolutely love her!!!

Susan (Lorelai) - had Caymen out of wedlock in her teens and the baby daddy left her to fend for herself. Her parents disowned her, but her baby daddy’s parents gave her guilt money to start up a business. She now lives a stressed life of trying to make ends meet in her porcelain doll shop that she lives above in a tiny apartment with her daughter.

Vivian (Emily) and Sean (Richard) - are not in the picture until later on as they disowned their pregnant teenage daughter. They haven’t seen their granddaughter for her entire life, but step up in a well intentioned way before it’s too late.

Unfortuately all the other amazing characters as well as copious amount of coffee are missing... but then again it was 300+ pages, not 7 seasons :D

Beautiful story

This story really goes deep. Typical young fall in love Rom Com of course but ontop of that you get some intense serious real life issues. It's almost a breathe of fresh air mixed with really make you think book. I appreciate the deep topics this book covers and the journey it takes you on to delve into them. Just when you think you know the story and it's predictable it takes a unexpected turn you wouldn't expect but then delivers to satisfy you. A truly beautiful story!

Really good YA romance

This is a really good book. I really enjoyed listening to it. The voice actor was great. I also really like the character development. The only flaw this book has is that it should’ve included another 10 chapters. We were left with so many questions at the end. What happened to her mom? Was she OK did she Live? What happened to the dollar store? Did they get foreclosed? Is the main character gonna be homeless? Did she meet her father? Was he a bad guy? I don’t know. It doesn’t look like will ever know because there isnt second book.

Heartwarming

even though Cayman was the main character, the author did a good job at least in this book for making me like and care about the other ones like Sky, Alex, Masien, and Henry, of course Susan as well.

Beyond Brilliant!

I especially enjoyed this listen. Not only was the story great, but the narration was superb! She did an amazing job. Not only did I discover a new favorite author, is there such a thing as a new favorite narrator as well? She brought an already brilliant story to amazing life! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this listen. Thank you!
