Publisher's summary

I was born of nothing.

I’m a void, a rare supernatural capable of absorbing powers at the brush of my skin.

Feared. Hated. Untouchable.

Thibault Academy is full of supernaturals that want me dead, and the most powerful of them, the Paragons, will stop at nothing to ensure I go back to the hell I came from. They’re cruel, heartless, and have created an unlikely alliance to take me down.

If I want to learn how to control the nothingness, I’ll have to survive them.

I was born of the void, but I’ll die from the power.

This is a reverse harem bully romance.

Love!

i have been hesitant of this book because it is a stand alone and not a series, but dang i am glad i read this. This would be a great re-listen if you find yourself in a funk.
I loved her sassy character and the four guys who don't like her or each other in the beginning. She is the void and shunned by everyone, including her mother, and they are all the head of their kinds and looked up to by everyone. However, there is this pull they find that grabs each other together.

Grit is my absolute favorite character, he cracks me up!! the Narrator does such a good job with the voices and scenes. This is a reverse harem with lots of intense sex scenes.

World Building Excellence and Great Story Telling

I went into this book with mild curiosity and found that I loved it so much I have re-listened to it back to back a few times already because I couldn't get enough. From the heroine with a "dark" power to her incredibly sexy connections to her 4 beautiful paranormal paramours I hated when it ended and only wished for more when it was over - even though the ending is wonderful. I am so glad I found not only this author but the narrator is fantastic as well.

Ignore imperfections for entertainment value

This is a 3.5 star.
Interesting concept in need of a little editing. I had some trouble believing her acceptance of abusive treatment flips into love, and zero consequences for her attackers. But hey, that’s just me, and I still got enough entertainment value that I might read again in future, so I’m keeping it;-)
I’m up with love and sex between consenting adults, but not abuse in any form. I’ll take a sexy story any day over the destruction of murder.
Barnes did a decent job of narration.

Good story

The story was well written. It had a steady pace, no insta love, characters build relationships individually and as a group. I’m impressed that enemies to lovers was all done in one book with all the areas represented.

Vampires, Shifters, Elementals, Necromancers Oh My!

One of the best stand alone RH books I’ve listened to yet! The narrator was fabulous and it had plenty of steam, mystery, excitement and romance. Well done!

Wow!

I was delightfully surprised when I started this book. It’s a roller coaster of emotions, angst, romance, and love. This was a fantastic stand alone RH paranormal romance. I feel like the author should do a continuation of there next chapters of life. Overall it’s worth the credit

ENTER THE VOID

I've previously listened to Addison Barnes from the "Angelview Academy" series. She not only narrates, but she consistently delivers with her impeccable embodiment of the characters. I absolutely loved listening to this book and and I wasn't even mad that there wasn't a male narrator duet either. "Void" is definitely going on my repeat listen list. It was also a surprise to me that I've already stumbled upon both of the authors' works individually with "Aggro" and the "Heart Hassle" series. Well done ladies! I'd love to have been able to pick your brains on how that writing process worked. You make collaborations seem so easy when both creators are on the same wavelength. It's no wonder this has such an overall high rating amongst readers.

From the genre alone, it checked off all of my guilty pleasures: bully, academy, reverse harem, and paranormal (vampire especially). But what I didn't expect was to be enthralled by such a unique world with its own set of customs. I've never even heard of a power-sucking void, nor Paragons of council before. The bond between Devicka and her mates pretty much sealed the deal for me. Render captivated me from the second he flashed on to the scene to steal her away for Council business. Hyde reminds me of the Mad Hatter; this unconventional Zombie King senses how misunderstood and alone Dev feels. Grit, is the ultimate alpha shifter who is beyond territorial and protective of his mate. And then there's Quade, the childhood best-friend turned enemy, who broke her heart because she was a perceived threat to his elemental magic.

There were so many memorable moments with the group and individually. Hyde stole my heart, that sweet, thoughtful, powerful weirdo necromancer. He even made rats cute to me! An adorably sleeping Cheddar melted my non-maternal ovaries. Render made me all hot and bothered with his cool vamp, commanding persona --though I wanted to slap him for even getting involved with that B of a vamp. It took some time for me to warm up to Grit, but his inner pink animal won me over. Quade, well I'm glad that he learned the error of his ways and stopped listening to the poison his parents spewed about the girl he was once so close to. Dev's father was such a delight whenever he made an appearance. I even liked Reed, the human best friend. I feel a little silly because I do not have enough words to adequately express my love for this book. I almost wish this was part of a series because I did not want to say goodbye to the characters!

Updated May 24, 2022: I just found out about the prequel: Wicked Webs: Black Widow's Revenge and highly recommend that if you want more of the Void universe. Devi's demon father Risk plays a prominent role here.

This is a slow burn why choose standalone! Its well done and I really enjoyed it. The story came together well.

The ending felt rushed

I loved so much of this book! The world building was phenomenal! Devicka has spent the majority of her life ignored or bullied by everyone. She was born with a power that is fear and not understood because of that. Although she hasn’t had much in the way of love, she is still a fantastic character! While she doubts herself, she doesn’t give up and she can be pretty witty. It’s an action packed book with plenty of angst while the heroine overcomes adversity. The world building and political structure is amazing!

My only complaint with the story is that it feels rushed at the end. We finally learn some very important, life-changing information, and then the story basically ends. The scene felt momentous and I was eager to see all she would do with the information, but then the ending was upon us... It felt anticlimactic for me. I absolutely love Raven Kennedy and know what she is capable of writing. Maybe in the future she’ll decide to pick this story back up and give this amazing story the justice it deserves.

With that being said, I still think it’s worth the credit. It’s an action packed story that you don’t want to end! I read the entire book in one day! The narration is fantastic as well. Addison Barnes is new to me, and I was impressed by how well she handled so many characters!

Amazing

I'm a huge fan of RH bully romances and this one is on the top of my list. Not only is it paranormal which I also love but it's a standalone. I appreciate the fact that the authors went with one complete book to tell the story of Devica instead of breaking it up into a series. I really liked Devica and all of the paragons but I have to admit that Griff was my favorite with his possessive ways.

Narration was perfect. The narrator had the perfect youthful voice for high school characters. Many times the books I've listened to the narrators voice sounds way too old for the characters so I loved the fact that in the case the narrator was cast perfectly.
