Publisher's summary

My name is Danica Knight, and I have a secret…a life-changing, whisper-worthy secret that will more than likely get me killed.

"Trust no one" is the singular phrase my mother had whispered to me when she abandoned me in a small hospital at the young age of eight. It was the only memory I could remember before I came to live with my aunt and uncles here in the largest wolf pack in North America.

After graduating high school and having been accepted into one of the most prestigious paranormal universities in North America, Black Veil University, everything is finally going as planned. Or so I thought before four insanely hot men crashed their way into my life—each with a unique connection to me whether they want it or not. We are tied together. Lives are turned upside down, hearts are torn and shattered, and those deep, dark secrets that I have held hostage start to slip. But when the dark shadows of my past come knocking, I may need every little bit of help I can get.

Knight Ascending is book one of five in the Black Veil University series, which does end on a cliffhanger. This is a university-aged, slow-burn, slow-build paranormal RH romance, which means there will be no choosing between love interests at the end of the story.

This series has darker elements that listeners should be aware of such as strong language, PTSD from kidnapping, assault, and violence.

Well I have to say that I am hooked on this series now. I have loved Danica since the very start of this book & I need so many answers. That ending was a bit mind blowing.

Danica's past before she came to live with her Aunt is shrouded in mystery, besides some nightmares, she has no clue what happened in the first 8 years of her life. Then the events of last summer took place & now Danica is ready to start her life anew at the best university in North America, Black Veil.

Magic goes rogue, shifters get possessive & one very entertaining half vampire for a roomie make for one great start to this series.

This book is also duet narrated & I absolutely loved listening to it. The narrators did such a great job with all of the characters & really brought this story to life.

Sucked me in

Dani has had a rough life not remembering anything before she woke up in a hospital at age 9 and struggles with ptsd, health problems, trust issues and some social awkwardness but seems to have a heart of gold. Being a witch in love with the alphas son makes life hard especially when he doesn’t seem to notice she alive. She off to college but she gets more then she bargains for. This story is fast paced with all the emotions. Narrators brought this story to life and gave me all the feels. I love when I get the feels!

Great start...Interesting storyline

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and think it set up a promising storyline. Danica seems like an alright FMC; I do wish she was a bit stronger and she does act a little awkward and rude to people that I wish she wouldn't, but I'm hopeful she has character growth as the series goes on. She has been through a lot after all, but I want to see her start fighting rather than fainting. She is judgy which is annoying, but to be fair most the OW are written as annoying b**ch's always after her men and being mean to her. I like the guys for the most part so far. Gabe is a jerk and is annoying but the others have very different and interesting personalities. There is enough OW drama but doesn't seem like too much so far which is nice. The narration is great. I'd recommend this book and am looking forward to the next.

Amazing story

I absolutely love this series and was excited to see it in Audible. The narrators are a couple of my favorites and was excited to see them voicing this story.
In this first book we meet Danica an elemental witch which is considered lowly in this world of shifters and magic. She is off to the Black Veil university where she meets her new roommate Kayla as well as Daxton. Along the way we meet his roommates and best friends Gabriel, Zander, and Roaran.
We also get to meet Remington Dani’s childhood best friend who is coming to college with her. Without giving too much away we see Dani’s connections with the guys starting to grown and some of them are not ok with what is happening.

Fantastic Narration

Fantastic Narration by Bridget and Jake Bordeaux! This is probably hands down my new favorite audiobook series from them. I absolutely loved that it was duet style narration and Jake did a fabulous job creating distinct voices for each of the MMC's. Both narrators did a wonderful job in bringing the authors characters to life and don't get me started on the author. I'm in book hangover like never before. I am so blown away at how good the story is, and the spice is seriously everything.

Loved the story and the performance

I listened to this book having no real idea what the story was going to be, just had it recommended and felt like giving it a chance. I am so glad that I did. The story was interesting, held my attention the entire time and couldn't wait to start the second book immediately after the first finished. I really liked how the voice actors narrated this, with the male voice taking over and voicing all the male parts, even during the female lead's chapters. It felt immersive and really brought the story to life.

great listen

I really enjoyed the story line and the narrator for the FMC. Unfortunately I personally don't really like the narrator for the MMCs. I just have a hard time telling the difference between all of the male characters. But that just might be me.
