Publisher's summary

The recently orphaned Sisters Grimm find out from their Granny, who they thought was dead, that they're descendents of the legendary Brothers Grimm. Now they must take over the family responsibility of being fairy tale detectives in a town where fairy tales are real. Their first case: a giant is destroying the town and it may have something to do with a boy named Jack and a certain famous beanstalk.

Cute story

What did you love best about The Fairy-Tale Detectives?

The characters and the story were fun.

What did you like best about this story?

The sisters Grimm didn't know that their grandmother was a live and that the fairy tale characters were real.

Which character – as performed by L. J. Ganser – was your favorite?

Love Elvis; I'm a dog lover, but pretty much I like all the characters.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No, not really. It's just a cute story.

Any additional comments?

Can't wait to listen the other books. I should have get the second book of this series instead of wasting my credit on Fifty Shades of Grey, lol.

interesting and fun take fairy tail characters

Take the old fairy tails, let time pass and allow them to move to the USA, let generations pass, and that is the setting for this story, the first in a series. Intersting and fun. Snow White teaching school? Prince Charming as mayor? The three little pigs as the police force? You get the idea.

Cute Twist on a Cast of Classic Characters

I'm a fan of fairy tales --- whether the Disney 'happily ever after' versions or the more gruesome classics of the brothers Grimm. From Hans Christian Anderson & Lewis Carroll to Colladi & Perrault, I love them all.

If you're a fan of fairy tales, too, this might be worth a listen. The story was cute --- a light, fun romp --- in which you see some of your favorite fairy-tale characters in a new light.

The narration is excellent. This is the first book I've listened to narrated by L. J. Ganser; He does a marvelous job. The accents and different voices he uses bring the characters to life and will hold the interest of kids as well as adults.

I'd definitely pack this on a road trip to pass the time and occupy the little ones. They will have fun figuring out who the towns people really are. The story isn't too complex that it would be hard for them to follow and none of the characters are too scary.

I'll definitely pick up more books in the series to spend more time with the characters/ Grimm Family, if nothing else.

Tales of old with a twist

I certainly enjoyed this little bit of fiction and fantasy! I like mysteries and detective stories that get your brain flowing with a good whodunnit! The story of The FairyTale Detectives, has several things going for it, in my opinion. It's simple enough for a young adult, but adult enough for people like myself that enjoy reading younger more youthful works. I don't like a bunch of romance or sex when I'm reading. I don't like politics or war, So this book is perfect for anyone wanting to relax and let their mind be free of the challenging times we live in today. There are heroes and villains, innocents and guilty. It's chock full of quirky characters that will cause you to reminisce about the stories we are all so familiar with from our childhood, but with just enough disguised that it will keep you wondering. It's a good, light hearted read and it took me far, far away from the every day events we contend with these days. Centered around two young sisters, in foster care, with fosters who are less than good parenting material. They are protective of each other, and excellent escape artists as well, which proves to come in handy further on in the story. It's no Gone With the Wind but it is now one of my favorite R&R stories. This is about a 6 hour read and I enjoyed every minute, especially the narration.

GIANTS ARE REALLY STINKY

EVER AFTERS
You should like this almost as much as the LIBLINGS. This was entertaining all the way through, a little predictable in places for adults, but not too much so. There is often a question on who are the bad guys and who are the good guys. PRINCE CHARMING is not so charming. It is a great take on what fairy tale creatures would be like in the modern world. Book two is in my wish list.

Great Story Teller

At first I was somewhat critical as the story sounded like a blend of Harry Potter and the Unfortunate Events series, but as the story progressed I quickly came to realise that The Sisters Grimm is a great novel in its own right. I am planning to use this story in my classroom as I believe my 11year old students, both boys and girls, will love the plot and the characters.

My daughter liked it ...

and so did I. It was a great listen. My daughter doesn't usually like books narrated by a man, but she enjoyed this one. It is a fun premise, and a well written story.

both girls loved it

I'm always trying to find something that my 7 and 10 year old can listen to together and this one fit the bill. It was easy enough for the 7 year old to follow (and not too scary) and had enough to keep the 10 year old engaged (she liked trying to figure out which Fairy Tale character the characters in this story were).

Somewhat disappointed

Reminiscent of Once Upon A Time. Similar storyline and characters. Not bad if you hadn’t watched the show.

loved this story from the beginning.

this was a fantastic story. easy to listen to, easy to follow. I'm 27 years old, and I didn't feel like it was too child-like for me. I feel like this is a book that anyone could love
