Publisher's summary

The recently orphaned Sisters Grimm find out from their Granny, who they thought was dead, that they're descendents of the legendary Brothers Grimm. Now they must take over the family responsibility of being fairy tale detectives in a town where fairy tales are real. Their first case: a giant is destroying the town and it may have something to do with a boy named Jack and a certain famous beanstalk.

Enjoyable and lighthearted listen.

If you could sum up The Fairy-Tale Detectives in three words, what would they be?

Cute. Kid-Friendly, Clean

Who was your favorite character and why?

There were so many fairy tale characters interspersed with the Grimm family, it's hard to pick just one character! Mayor Charming was one of my least faves, but then again, I think he's written that way on purpose. :-)

Which scene was your favorite?

Going into the mirror.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

no, no one moment moved me, but it was refreshing to hear a story with no cursing, no vile behaviour and yet still be entertained thouroughly.

Nice Book for Kids

I am an adult but bought this book because it looked interesting. It is set in our present day and follows two sisters who are the decendants of the Brothers Grimm. They are thrown in the middle of a mystery involving fairy tale characters. It was an easy listen and helped pass the time while I did my cleaning. Although this is really for kids, it can be enjoyed by adults too. There are some unresolved questions at the end of the story so I am thinking that this book may have a sequel.

Cute story

This was a cute story with those from the tales we know and love. I like the generational twist it involves. An easy read to fill up some time

Cute, but shows its age

Cute, but shows that it was written in the early 2000s. I have winced a few times at things like fat-shaming and what, in my opinion at least, seemed like clumsy attempts at a feminist POV.
I will say, however, that I would have probably loved this if I had a chance to read this when I was the target audience, aka in the early 2000s.

The narrator, L. J. Ganser, was good, but it felt a tiny bit unaligned to me to have a grown man narrate a story about two small girls. Not that the narration was bad by any means, but I'd rather have a female narrator for this type of story. But that is just a personal preference.

GIANTS ARE REALLY STINKY

EVER AFTERS
You should like this almost as much as the LIBLINGS. This was entertaining all the way through, a little predictable in places for adults, but not too much so. There is often a question on who are the bad guys and who are the good guys. PRINCE CHARMING is not so charming. It is a great take on what fairy tale creatures would be like in the modern world. Book two is in my wish list.

Great Story Teller

At first I was somewhat critical as the story sounded like a blend of Harry Potter and the Unfortunate Events series, but as the story progressed I quickly came to realise that The Sisters Grimm is a great novel in its own right. I am planning to use this story in my classroom as I believe my 11year old students, both boys and girls, will love the plot and the characters.

My daughter liked it ...

and so did I. It was a great listen. My daughter doesn't usually like books narrated by a man, but she enjoyed this one. It is a fun premise, and a well written story.
